Full Version: Product Page Layout
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?

We are in the process of creating an MC website.

We have some products that seem to conform to the normal MC layout, i.e. a single item with product name, detailed description, price, photo, etc.

But then we also have some products with literally hundreds of variants in the form of dimensions, value and price. I'd like to list these items in a very compact tabular format as done at our current website shown here http://www.welbornelabs.com/cad.htm with a "buy" button for each variant as opposed to using drop down menus. Each one of these variations doesn't need its own detailed product page with description becaause they are all the same except for value or price.

Is there a way to do this?

An MCer has something like this on his site for tractor parts. He put the items in a table with buy buttons. Sorry I can't remember his forum name or site url. Maybe someone else does. He used to post quite often.

agkits.com?

I went to his site, but couldn't find any examples.

Great question! Just the one I needed to ask, but with a twist. Each of my variants needs to have a clickable thumbnail that points to a larger picture of it.

My first post, BTW.

I agree. I would like to know how to do that. We feature items that work within the normal layout, but we also have lots of remainders which need nothing more than an organized posting in a list, which I would like to have put in the shopping cart with a simple click.

Hello -

I think what you might all be looking for are the 'QuickOrder' pages of the cart... this feature lists out your products (which can be filtered by category). Each product will have a Qty box and Buy button next to it. The QuickOrder pages are as follows:

index.asp?PageAction=QUICKORDER

and

index.asp?PageAction=QUICKORDER2

... the difference between the two is that the first does not include product thumbnails, while the second one does. You'll notice a category dropdown box on this page... selecting a category will display only those products and you can link directly to that category-specific QuickOrder page.

One additional note is that products with variants cannot be purchased directly through the QuickOrder page (because those variant options must first be selected before the product can be placed in the cart).

Hope this helps!

I can't believe I didn't know about this!@##$%^&

Its perfect for getting around the variant problems and makes it possible for customers to put more than one thing in a cart at a time. My regular customers are going to love this. thumbsup.gif

thank you moondoggy for asking the question.

and thank you Brad for the answer.

now i just have to find time to make the changes. hummm, maybe i could get away without sleeping for a couple of nites blinking.gif

Hi all -

Another thing to keep in mind is the Remote Cart Scripting. happy.gif

You can use this page http://www.welbornelabs.com/cad.htm and just change the function of the 'Buy Me' button.

Great. Thanks for the ideas. These might just work. I'll give them a try.

Would someone mind posting some links to sample pages using the QuickOrder feature? I'm having trouble visualizing this. huh.gif

Just go to your store front and in the address bar, after your domain name type

index.asp?PageAction=QUICKORDER
And/or
index.asp?PageAction=QUICKORDER2

These pages are already created on all sites, you just need to create a link to them if you want your customers to be able to use them.

Almost all my products use variants (for gift wrapping) so these pages are pretty useless for me. doh.gif A pity, because they are pretty awesome.

This is REALLY COOL! I actually really like the layout and ease of use with the Quickorder pages. Is there any way that these can become the landing pages when my customers click on a certain category from my left navigation? I have gone into the category editor, but it doesn't seem that you can manually chang the category's url. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advace,

Ann

I'm having a problem with the quick order. With some of my items, when you order them through quick order the pop up window saying that the item has been added to cart doesn't pop up but it does add it to the cart. I tried to see if there was anything in the product manager between an item that works and one that doesn't but I can't. Any ideas on why it's happening (or not happening).
