I've got some products that are just blending into the background, and I'd like to put a border around them. I haven't been able to figure out how to do this.

It seems like it should be really simple, but I can't do it.

Can anyone help me?

I am not sure about photoshop elements, but I would think that the easiest way to do this would be to create a simple colored/textured box that slightly larger in all dimensions then your product image and then paste (or layer) your product image on top of it. For instance, if your product image is 300x300, you could create a box that is 320x320 and then center your product image over it and you would have your product image with a ten pixel border. Does that help?

I use Photoshop Elements 2.0.

To create a border around an image, Edit>Stroke.

Good luck!

Thank you, James. I tried it that way, but it didn't work for me. I'm not that talented, and I couldn't quite get the image just right.

Thank you. I knew it would be something simple. Who would have thought stroke = create image border?

Someday I need to take some classes on all of this.

Patti, in Paint Shop Pro, it is Image>Add Borders. You set the color and pixels and you are done.

Bookmark ... thank you so much for asking the question. I wanted to make my checkout buttons more visible and thought a bright border would do the trick. I spent hours trying to figure out how weeks ago and gave up.

and to the person or persons who came up with edit > stroke bash.gif

This may be a round-about way, but in Photoshop, I select the entire image, then select/modify/border, then choose pixel width of border, then edit/fill with color. I like this because it is an easy way to create a soft faded border.
