How about a section where 'non-beta 4.0' users can post suggestions and new features we would like to recommend.

For example:
Integrated voting booth
Discount codes that auto expire
Discount codes that give free shipping
Discount codes that req. minimum purchase amount
Discount codes for 'one specific item'
Admin: View products (hidden items only)
Automated 'What's New' section that adds new products

I have many more ideas and I'm sure every store owner does. Wouldn't it be good to have a place we can post and discuss them? This would be an easy way for monstersmile.gif to know what the store owners are looking for feature wise. Of course we wouldn't expect monstersmile.gif to add them all, but it would be a great place to start.

ultimatekeychains,

i agree with you about a place to allow store owners to disguss and give suggestions. i have some suggestions myself that i think would be very useful for the customers. i think that the coupons for a specific product would be very useful. i also think monstersmile.gif should add some of these features:

- customer image gallery (for customers who want to send in pictures)
- product reviews (where customers can write reviews for products)
- product image gallery (i think this is in v4.0)
- wish list

and i know that there are alot of other suggestions out there!

biggrin.gif Great ideas! MonsterCommerce builds new features based on client feature requests... so make your needs known!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree! The "Suggest a New Feature" option in Tech Support is great, but I'm sure we can come up with even better suggestions for monstersmile.gif Commerce.

I have been extremely impressed with their responsiveness. I really feel a sense of ownership in the company already, based on their eagerness to consider new features. We went with this company because we felt that their features were the most rich. I'm sure that our forum discussions will be read and taken to heart by the great folks at monstersmile.gif . I just wish I could buy stock in the company! Any corporation this responsive to its customers is bound to prosper.

As for new features, here's a few of my ideas:

Right Side html field

The ability to sort home page features independent of the sort for the product within its own category

A Return Policy Editor field under "Site HTML" that is included on the horizontal banner. (I can do this with the Custom Pages editor, but it is so basic that it should be an integrated part of the layout.)

A category html field (just like the subcategory html field) that would allow us to put text above the subcategories.

A better, more up-to-date manual.

An incentive program (see my poll -- others like this idea!). I want to reward you for the people you bring to my site. If your friend buys $155 in product and tells me, though your email address, that you referred her, I want to give you $15.50 in store credit!

The ability to assign a product to multiple categories (I guess this will be doable with the next version).

I am using javascript to include an "add our site to your favorites" that can accommodate even Netscape users. It would be nice if we could all add this feature to our site with the click of a button.

I would like to have a "Private Specials " area for my mailing list customers that can be accesed by only them, and not by the general public. I want to reward my loyal customers with specials & discounts, but not a complete catagory discount or website discount. Just certain items in various catagories. Is there anyway to do this currently? Did I make any sense?

The only request I would really like followed through in 4.0 is to take out ALL '?' in the links. This is becoming a huge issue for my site ranking. Discount codes that auto expire would be nice also.

Perhaps Lindsay can discuss this in the forum.

She met the Google guy and he said Google had no problem spidering the question mark.

Google Guy did inform MC of what to eliminate from the query strings and they have made this upgrade for 4.0. The dynamically driven site map and Titles being added to pages will also help considerably.

My guess is traffic will double for MC stores when Googie Bot spiders and re-indexes 4.0 technology.

I would like to see an upgrade to EMAIL PRODUCT LIST!

I have several lines on two of my stores. A person interested in my topiary, may not be interested any anything else I carry. On the product list which is emailed to them, I would like to be able to see my clients being able to have the product list sorted by manufacturer. This way, the list will only go out based on what they want to see rather than everything I have.

Allow the customer to select all or some. But very much being able to sort by category or manufacturere would be a nice feature.

Title Tags in the upgrade? Oh my I can see a full week of building title tags---LOL

The single, one, numero uno, thing that I would like (Besides more category levels[coming soon]) is a better way to view images in the data file and to work with them!. This sure eats a lot of time right now. wink.gif

To save time on finding images I do the following:
Three Folders:
Product folder eg: sunglass
Manufacturer name eg: smith
Model name: name of frame

that's about the best way I could think of for keeping them straight

If it's a website itself graphic I break them down into months loaded into a single file, so that they are always there for the new season

This might not work for everyone, but it works great for me

Good suggestions... they have been noted. ohmy.gif

Expanded category would very much be a help to us!

When the site was smaller, no big deal, but now we have about 1/4 of our store online. Not all because the left side would be a pain in the tush!

I would like to see a vrml script that would expand when moused over for clicks in the left side.

True, these can be placed on the individual pages, but that takes thousands of wasted hours for those of us with several thousand products on the site!

This fall we plan on taking clothing online. The nightmare for us is the following

A category of Winter Outer Wear
Sub category of Jackets
then all the hours of grouping by Brand Name.

We are a high end sporting goods store and carry at least 6 lines of companies for Jackets alone! Now a dymanic menu would be great!

Outerwear would be main in left side,
Mouse over and it would expand to show
Mens
Womens
Male Youth
Female Youth
Children and Infants

Mouse over any of these and expand it like for mens
Jackets
Parkas
Race Wear
Pants
Trousers
(and others)

Mouse over these and it should expand to the name brands

I used to do this prior to going to monstersmile.gif and is was so much nicer.
I know, I could use it now, but I would have to go to custom and lose updates in the process.....not an option for us we care to venture.

Thus another request for a dymanic expansion of the navigation in the left side!

W0W so many great suggestions.

I personally think we need to make a suggestion/feature database, that way we can easily store all features on file.
Having that we could also run a poll on which features should be implemented next.
ultimatekeychains
Now that sounds like a great suggestion/feature smile.gif
Captain
When will you be able to implement the database of feature requests?

Hi, Ultimate. I was searching for some javascript that would allow users to "add this site to my favorites". I saw one in a previous post, but noticed you don't have one. To all: Are there any special considerations for adding one (JS for favorites)on monstersmile.gif? And, what's your favorite. laugh.gif Thanks!
