There is a cool add-on for IE called the JSpell Toolbar. This would be a great tool for anyone designing a store, adding products or creating custom pages... I just thought I'd pass it along.

JSpell Toolbar installs into the Internet Explorer toolbar and enables spell checking of HTML forms on any web page. Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher is required.

JSpell Toolbar takes advantage of a Microsoft Windows and Internet Explorer specific feature called Browser Helper Objects. The JSpell Toolbar BHO is available to any instance of the Internet Explorer window and lets you spell check any HTML form present on the Internet Explorer window.

I might actually have to buy this, I often type so fast I miss little spelling issues which are so annoying when you go back and read them. For this forum alone buying JSpell seems like it would be worth it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has the need for this.

I'm thinking of buying it as well... I often type too fast and end up editing my posts to fix the typos.

Can you get a spell checker in the forum for us?

Yes, the current modification for Invisionboard uses IEspell anyhow. I know the guy who wrote IEspell and even contributed to his word database.

Other spellchecking solutions for this software require additional monthly payments to a 3rd party who maintains the database. I don't agree with this... not because of the money but because what happens when their server goes down or the service is offline? You have no service either.

I made an attempt to write a spellcheck modification several months ago using the database I created for IEspell. It didn't work very well. Maybe I could look at spending some more time working on it in the future if time permits.

Personally, the more I've looked into this modification the more I believe very few people are actually going to press a spellcheck button before making their post. Enough people have trouble figuring out how to use the forums as it is.

I belive the only way a spellcheck system is going to work is if it's indeed truly embedded into the actual post and functions almost similarly to MS Word or Corel Wordperfect in functionality... by red underlining errors and green underliniing grammatical mistakes as you type. The underlining errors and mistakes isn't the problem... it's underlining them as you type that's the problem, which in itself is its own word processor.

Although I do belive PHP and web programming is at a point that there could be an online based word processor (Microsoft has been dying to hear these words and has been leaning towards this for years), although I very well may be wrong, I don't know how likely it is to be integrated with Invisionboard [or any other board] anytime soon.
