One of my affiliates has told me (and I think he is correct) that the MonsterCommerce alert telling customers that an item has been added to their cart is the wrong approach.

The alert box is usually associated with something wrong -- an error, for example. The sound effect also says "you did something wrong." If nothing else, it is annoying.

Two question... (1) Can the alert be edited (I know it can be turned off, that that's not a good thing to do). (2) If not, could we please, please get a kinder, gentler way of telling customers that their "buy click" worked?

Perhaps a little box with an animated fellow throwing something into a cart? Or if nothing else a quiet, self-closing box reporting that the item has been added would be nice.

It seems to me that this would be a little fix that a programmer could address in no time.

I completely agree with this post, and will be waiting to hear an answer....

In v4.0 this will not be editable since it is in the core of the software.

Alerts are not only used for errors but for informative information as well.

Soon before release we will add a confirmation instead of a alert which will ask if the items in the message are the items you wanted to add to your cart.

Substituting a friendly confirmation for a noisy alert should do the trick! Perhaps the confirmation window could close on its own after a few seconds?

Yeah, we don't use that option because personally I find it to be too annoying when adding several individual items to the cart. Has considered adding user profiles? Allow a registered customer to login and change a setting to turn this on and off? If you did have something like this maybe they could also use this to maintain a wishlist, alternative shipping addresses, alternatate credit cards details, mailing list setting, etc...

While a MY ACCOUNT section has been added to v4.0, some the stated above features have not yet been added. Although we will be adding alot of things you just stated Ultimate, where the customers can over ride certain settings the store has set. Example would be like the Add Item To Cart Alert, Wishlists, etc...

That's why you guys are the best... always thinking of the future!
