I just signed up for urchin and I'm a bit lost as to what certain stuff is and what it does. Here is what my summary shows:

Total Sessions 470.00
Total Pageviews 4,971.00
Total Hits 16,562.00
Total Bytes Transferred 145.40 MB

Average Sessions Per Day 470.00
Average Pageviews Per Day 4,971.00
Average Hits Per Day 16,562.00
Average Bytes Transferred Per Day 145.40 MB

Average Pageviews Per Session 10.58
Average Hits Per Session 35.24
Average Bytes Per Session 316.78 KB
Average Length of Session 00:04:59

Ok.. so the total page hits is 16,562... is that right ?! I mean I just looked at my overture and google adwords they average about 100 clicks each per day. Does that transfer over to hits. Clicks vs Hits? Like is it a 1:1 ratio. Or should I be looking at Pageviews Per Day? I could be looking at the wrong section all together. I want to see how many people visited my site in one day.

Also under the robot section what is "ia_archiver" is that an image bot or something? And to monitor crawling should I wait and look at the number of hits day to day and look for spikes in then number of hits. Say googlebot for example hit my site 187 times... say in a couple of days it jumps to 500 does that mean its doing a deep(er) crawl?

Sorry for all of the questions, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Justyn

Hey Agkits.
A hit is essentially a file address...when a page is pulled down, there could be a hit for each image and such. Essentially, each time a page is requested, it counts for a number of hits (based upon what is on that page).
My main points of focus in stats are pageviews, length/depth of session, click path, search terms, engines---and certainly bot info.
Hope that helps a tiny bit.

Great thanks Martini Guy. I also figured out ia_archiver is The Alexa crawler (robot).
