Full Version: Merchant Account Rates For A Wholesaler
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > Merchant Accounts

Our web site on monstersmile.gif, ChipsAndGames.com is only our retail storefront. We are, in fact, a wholesale distributor and we do accept credit cards from our retail accounts. Needless to say, our wholesale per ticket charge is much much higher than our average web site sales. But we are using our retail store merchant account and I know that I am paying a lot more than I should for the high ticket wholesale charges.

Are there any merchant service providers that cater to wholesalers with high ticket charges? The rates obviously should be a lot lower than normal mail order without any funny corporate card charges and what not. My average wholesale order ticket is well above $1000.

Of course, a provider that frequents these boards often once approched me with a very good offer, but she never put it in writing and I am not going to sign up for another merchant account until I have the cost detail spelled out on the contract.

What is your discount rate with Visa/Mastercard and per ticket charges? Do you pay more for corporate cards?

cheers,
Julie

Hello,

My name is Julie and I am with the credit card division for Monstercommerce. We have a processor that we use that has an appetite for high ticket wholesale accounts. Because they have an appetite for it, the rates are very competitive. We can even get very creative in pricing to and make sure your corporate card charge are very low.

Here is my telephone number where you can reach me. Please call me at 1-800-838-9699.

It will be worth talking about to make sure we get you the best rates out there.

Government and corporate cards are subject to a higher rate known as mid-qualified. Be certain that if you take a lot of these cards (not the case for most merchants) to know what that rate will be. In addition, it is important to be sure to pay close attention to fees other then discount and cost per transaction. Other fees whcih can comprise an enormous amount of a monthly statement are:

AVS Fees
Batch fees .
Non - qualified AKA up charges (this can comprise 30% of a merchants monthly costs).
Initiation fee
Term of contract fee
Chargeback fees
ACH funding delays
Annual fee.
Convenience fee for Amex or Discover.
Set up fee.
Application fee.

If you have a card present business you should be able to combine the two to get the best rates for both in the ideal program. If you have more questions or need additional help - feel free to drop me a line.
