I thought a discusssion on how to make use of the data provided by Urchin may help us all.

If anyone cares to share, what exactly do you do with the data provided by Urchin. I have only been able to make use of a small percentage of the stats provided.

For example, I use the number of sessions, referral sources, and entrance stats. I put this data into a spreadsheet to determine how many visits came from which source, an unkown source, or are repeat visitors. I log this data daily, plot the data over time and correlate marketing efforts with traffic. In addition, trends can be extrapolated from this data. However , I haven't found a reliable (statistically speaking) forecasting method.

I enjoy looking at the rest of the stats provided, however, I haven't been able to actually make use of them to provide valuable information.

Any ideas? What do you do with the data?

I posted this on another thread but thought it was in the correct vein of this new topic. Thanks for starting it mgriffin. I think if we all put our creative heads together we can make Urchin info work

I have set up my own little system to see who is visiting what specific catagories by creating a new image folder called header and each Catagory has a specific graphic on the page which is placed in the Header folder. From that I can do a report on "Files" and see how what header images have the most views which tells me which page gets looked at the most

danilyn22,

Smart move. Not knowing which product page has been visited has always been frustrating. I use the product.asp info in the following way.

If product.asp was an entry point for the site; it was most likely a return visitor. I deduct the number of visits from cpc ads that I know send the clicker to a specific product page. Its fair to say that the difference was a return visitor to a product page. Return visitors are always a good sign.

The only flaw is if a spider enters the site at a product page, the results are a bit off. I am assuming a spider is capable of visiting any page in a web site as its first page. If anyone knows otherwise, let me know.

I am going to implement your idea.

Thanks
