Hello everyone,
I am sort of a newbie. Been adding products to my new monstersmile.gif storefront for about 6-weeks. NOW, I find I have to scan some photos from product brochures because the manufacturers don't have them saved electronically.

Question, when I scan these photos, they are much, much to LARGE for either the Thumbnail pics AND for the Regular Product photo. What size should they be? # of Pixels, etc???

Thanks so much for any help you can give...

What I do is take or scan the picutes and then in fireworks or photoshop, size it down and drop it to a file size better for the web.

WELCOME to the FORUMS, Cookiemonster!

You can also use the MonsterCommerce software to create the pixel size that you want. Our software will only create a smaller version of the file as the file is being uploaded.

Recommended sizes are as follows - 300 x 300 - for large - 100 x 100 - for small. Upload your original HUGE image and set it to create a thumbnail at 300 x 300. Then rename the thumb to thumbLG. Then upload the original again, this time getting a thumbnail of 100x100. Delete the original since you don't need it on your servers, (unless you want to use it in the image gallery) and then rename both LG and small images to whatever you want.

James,

Doesnt it say somewhere in the file manager that reguler should be 180x180 and thumb should be 80x85?

I use pic files of 300 x 300 and 100 x 100 for thumbs. If you want to make thumbs quick and easy, there are a lot of shareware software packages out there to do so. Here is one I have used...

IMAGE THUMBNAILER

Nice thing here is you can create thumbs from an entire folder of images...each to the same size/proportion.

As for the scan images, like Travis and Arco said, I would use photoshop or photoshop elements to work with the pics. You can get Photoshop elements for about $120 at Offcie Depot.
