We have had this problem from Day 1 of our store and I was wondering if any one else has experienced this.

At least 2 customers a month tell us that they can not check out because our shopping cart will not except the expiration date from their credit card. I know my customers are idiot and probably can't read the little popup that says "Format MMYY" but wouldn't it be easier to put the "Format MMYY" message on the form page rather than have to wait until the pop up error?

If we have 2 a month actually tell us they can't check out how many are walking away? We actually were working with one customer who was frustrated with the check out when the expiration date wasn't accepted and he thanked us for following through with him, however he bought the tool from a competitor since their shopping cart took his expiration date.

We have called support numerous times and always get the same answer. "There is nothing wrong"

I wonder if others are having this issue or is it just my customers that can't figure it out!

I had this problem and like yourself was losing customers. I have since changed it myself to say "please enter card expiration date (format MMYY)". I haven't had problems since.
Its easy to change, just go into your credit card processing section in admin and the options of what they should enter can be changed, just change the wording to your choice.
I have found that customers can be a little slow sometimes and you have to do your best to hold their hand and walk them along. NEVER assume they can do it themselves.

where is the area where you can edit the wording?

Click on 'Order Information' -> 'Online Payment Manager'

Then within the description mine you can add whatever you want

i.e. 'Pay by Visa, Mastercard or American, Express - please do not use spaces - enter month & year MMYY'

or whatever text you would like the customer to see.

Hope that helps - it gets confusing with all of the admin areas!

Took me a little while (and a lot of reading in the manual) to find out how to change it myself, the admin can be confusing sometimes, but I use it so often I am now getting somewhat use to it.
LOL, I hope v.4 doesn't change the admin too much, it will take another few months to learn again!

We tried to keep the admin very much the same... very few things will change in the admin style and organization (except for new features and functionality).
