Full Version: Turn off Newsletter Button
Can anyone tell me how to turn off my Newsletter button and field from the right side? I want to expand more on why they should sign up for the newsletter and I think putting a link to a page that would explain the newsletter, have a sample copy and put my privacy statement might be nice.
Site Information > Sitewide Settings > Site Layout Tab

To go further on this one... does anyone know how to remove the checkbox "Add me to the mailing list" from checkout? I prefer to place a button on the order confirmation screen instead. This ensures that the customer made it sucessfully through the checkout. I've had some ticked off people from overseas complain that they ended up on our mailing list but can't order from us. This is because we don't accept international orders, but they make it past the first checkout screen before finding out. This adds them to the list if they checked it off...

From what I can tell, you are supposed to be able to hide the "Add me to the mailing list" from the first page of checkout at the same time that you hide it from your left or right column layout. If you go in the Admin Panel to Site Information > Site Wide Settings > Site Layout and set Hide Mailing List to 'Yes', this is supposed to hide it from the column layouts and from that field in checkout.
However, I notice when I test this that the box is already set to YES, so it looks like you helped me find a new bug.
I am submitting this bug in our tracking system for the developers to fix for your site. The other possibility is that this is an oversite and that feature was never intended to be switchable. However, it is definitely a good idea and might make it into a later update.
