Here is the scenario: I reward dealers for increasing sales by giving a graduated price list which is % off based. It looks to me that if I have 10 levels set up, I have to individually calculate 10 fixed prices for each of my 100's of products. It also looks like the price level is not offered for the variants associated with the product. Yikes!
What I really want is the ability to have 10 price levels that are a discount % that factors off my standard selling price. This way, I only ever have to change one standard price per item. I can assign my wholesale customers (dealers) a price level that is a % that is constant so when I change the price of an item, their new price is automatically displayed when the dealer signs in up front with their login. My retail customers who aren't assigned a price level see the standard price at their login or when just browsing. I believe the price level ability does not function this way because I cannot find a spot where a percent is entered.
If I use the Discount Code, it looks to me that the only way the discount price shows to a customer from the beginning of their shopping session is if they come in through a cookie based link, not by signing in as a customer. Or they enter the code at the shopping cart to show the discount after the browsing and selection process. I really desire the ability to have them log in and see their price. Plus, I really want to keep the discount code separate from the customer pricing so I can use the discount code like it is intended for special deals, etc.
To top it off, I have extensive variants and quantity discounts per item, too. That is why I need the %. It has to multiply into the variant and qty discount, too.
In essence, here is the formula that I wish to be in place: (standard product price + variant 1 markup + variant 2 markup + variant 3 markup ...) x (quantity discount %) x (price level dealer discount %) x (discount code)= purchase price. This may be a make or break issue for me and
So you get an idea of my product (and dilemma), I manufacture furniture - each item with these multiple variants: 1. upholstery (100 standard, not to mention custom offerings (each at a different price point)); 2. Finish (20 offerings); 3. Misc (10+ misc offerings as adornments (different prices)). These are all discounted based on customer type and qty ordered. It is not uncommon to have orders of single selections be in the 500-1000 qty range or as few as 1. Because of the huge extrapolation that can occur, I stock nothing for inventory purposes -- all products are custom made per order and ship in 3 weeks.
Sorry about the emoticons, first time I have ever used them! I'll control myself next time!
