Full Version: Adbot On Mc Servers?
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > Using MonsterCommerce Software

i've got a customer who cannot complete the checkout process. after going through the normal list of things to check for, he still can't get it to work with Netscape or IE. he says his Ad-ware software detects an Ad-bot on my website. is MC running spyware on the servers that storefront owners don't know about? i just noticed that a subdirectory called MMP was added 2 months ago. what's it for? there's a file in there called "adovbs.inc". what is it?

i'd like to know about any hidden processes running on the MC servers that collect information of any sort from my customers.

I'm sorry that we missed responding to this post until just now.

Let me make one thing clear - MonsterCommerce DOES NOT have spyware OR adware installed on any site. whip.gif

The closest thing we would have to ads would be clients who DELIBERATELY sign up to be a MonsterCommerce affiliate and even then they usually place the code to display our ad banner.

We do not install or load anything malicious like spyware on your site or the secure checkout shared directories. Flat out this is just against our policies, our group culture and our ethics.

MMP stands for MonsterMarketPlace. If you had a folder on your site with the name MMP, it was because you signed up.

The MMP folder was used to create an entry on your site and export out the proper information from your store and import it into the market place. I don't know the purpose of that specific file you mention but it's only purpose is for the market.
