Are advanced templates customizable??

Advanced Templates offer you a much more visual storefront, a step above the Basic Templates available. For a minimal extra investment, you get a better template to work with. The designers do not customize it any more than a basic template, but you just get a better looking site 'out-of-the-box'.
I personally have browsed around and some of them are really pretty good. A definite good middle-of-the-road solution.

I think the avanced templates are overpriced for something that is already made up and takes very little time to install. (EDIT)... Users not allowed to market products and services in this forum.

i agree that the advanced templates are WAY overpriced. if you look around you can find a much better deal. There are a lot of template selling sites on the internet, it seems like i cant name names from the post above. Just hop on a search engine and youll find what you need after a little digging. You can find similar "advanced" templates on the internet for under $100 if you look hard enough.
I dont use any templates for my monstercommerce site, id rather build it myself.

I also believe the prices are a little high, fairly good collection but need more selections themed based on different types products or business.
My website contains gifts and accessories! I find nothing that really relates to my business unless I select a non-graphical one. (Too Plain for me if I am paying for it.)

is growing fast and so are the prices, but on the bright side they seem to be very professional and helpful, something you don't always find. Seem to make a great effort to incorporate new ideas/suggestions.
I will wait until I am making more money to get the luxuries they offer.

Again... I too would agree. The advanced templates are overpriced. If they were closer to $100 we would have at least considered one. Instead we decided to take a week and design our own. It was worth the wait and saving the large cost of the template. Hopefully

will consider revising the cost of these in the future.

The reason they are priced a little higher is because they cannot simply click a button and get the site to have the new template. They have to customize the template for that particular site. They have to manually go in and set up the store, which takes time. It is not just a plug-and-play type of template, which is why it is a little more expensive. I think it is worth the price.

Maybe they should consider adding some type of plug-and-play templates for less $. Ones that they 'can' easily activate, maybe even without any intervention. Then leave the rest of the customizing upto the store owner. It would be worth $50-$100 just to have a selection similar to the theme buttons that would change the whole site in a matter of minutes.

MonsterCommerce is working on a lower end version of templates that are plug-in play. Keep in mind that templates you buy online need to be integrated into custom HTML sections of your store... Most templates you buy online will not work or look right in the MC framework. Version 4.0 however, will give much broader range in design flexibility.
Also keep in mind... for the advanced templates etc... MC designers have to integrate your look and feel into the store... they can't just click a button and upload the template into your store. The majority of the cost of the template service is paying a designer to do the integration.
If they can create a plug-in-play version, I imagine cost will drop substantially... since their costs would drop.

I am not even very impressed with these templates. I could probably throw one together in an hour and save myself or client $400. I would think a template of this quality + set up time should = around 200-250.

I agree with you that if it was for a template only... it would be too costly. With the template you get design services as well... such as custom page creation, logo integration, consultations etc.
I think MC needs to change the service form thew word template to something that matches more of the service that is provided. Template is a low end word that people don't associate "design".
Anytime you have a designer working directly with the client to perform a design service... it drives the cost up, plus people do not associate custom design with a template service. Everyone in the forum has provided very valuable feedback!

I don't know if anyone will see this, as this topic is so old, but I just want to point out that there are a number of sites that -- without changing the markup at all -- can radically change the way they look. Best example is
CSS Zen Garden (a number of different templates, all with the EXACT same HTML, and they look amazingly different). CSS is remarkably powerful, and MC would do well to investigate using CSS for more than simply font colors and table borders.
