Hey guys. As some of you may know our store is 'live' now. I was going through and adding a secure ordering logo...and i thought "Is this secure?!" I went through and placed an order and no where did I see the little padlock at the bottom of explorer or anything like that. I am assuming the secure side of things is taken care of by our payment gateway...so that's fine. I know that end of things is secure.
I am just worried that if a customer logs in and doesn't see any 'browser confirmation' of security (the padlock, any pop ups saying you're entering a secure area)...it might scare them away.
Doesn't the credit card entry page at least need to be secure? Please help me stop worrying!

Did you contact MC about setting up security on your site? If so, did you receive confirmation that you were setup? If so, did you enable security in your Admin Panel?
If yes to all of the above, then you have a problem -- you should see the padlock.
If no, then complete the steps above.

Have you transferred the MC store to your domain or are you testing on the IP? If you are testing on the IP you will NOT get a lock... it has to be on your domain. Let us know if you are on your domain or IP. Thanks!

I just click into your site to check...
http://www.greekcreations.com/Jpage01.htmlWhen you click on the "Buy Now" button it links to your IP. All you need to do is go in and change these links to link to your domain instead of your IP!

You need to point your domain name to your MC IP address.
If your store remains on the IP only, you cannot enable security. You have to have a domain name associated with your site to enable security.

Where is your homepage located? On MC servers or on someone else's?

Someone elses.

Then you need to change that link to the

site to your true domain so this will eliminate any security issues..... Also make sure you have any links within your store setup like this:
index.asp?PAGEACTION=whatever
Not this:
http://www.whatever.com/index.asp?PAGEACTION=whateverThis way you will be all set.

Do you plan on keeping the homepage that you have or using your MC site as the homepage?
If you plan on keeping greekcreations.com pointing to your current homepage, then you will need another domain name for your MC site, or a subdomain to point to MC, like shop.greekcreations.com.
If you don't plan on keeping the old homepage, then you will have to point your domain name to your MC IP address.

Neil - if he changes that link to his 'true' domain, it just points back to that same homepage on someone else's server.

Ok we understand that. I think (and we're on the phone with

now) the answer is going to be for us to buy ANOTHER domain name strictly for our store. See...we have 2 sites basically. Our store and then our site. So we can't exactly transfer our domain to the

IP because it's point to our servers here in omaha at our hosting company. Sorry if we were confusing. But thanks everyone...just enduring our trial by fire

One common way to do this is set-up a sub domain as mentioned above... shop.yourdomain.com...

how do sub-domains work? would we purchase them the same as a regular domain? I think a sub-domain would be great. It's funny that I am a web designer....sometimes I think there is WAY too much knowledge to know.

Ohhhh... sorry I misunderstood the fact that he was using the same domain name for both places.... Yeah I would setup a subdomain if you are going to keep the old one.

You say you are a designer. Most designers wouldn't understand that.

Now if you were a developer and you didn't understand, I would have to question you!
Contact your hosting company. Tell them what subdomain you wish to have (what you want to call it, like shop.greekcreations.com). Then tell them to create that subdomain for you and point it to your MC IP address (whatever that is).
The hosting company that I have lets you have 10 subdomains and point them for you (after 10 they charge a 'setup' fee).

Hi Rednil,
I see that your domain is not hosted with us. In order to make your site more professional, you should use a domain name instead of an IP for your site. You should at least create a subdomain (such as store.greekcreations.com or shop.greekcreations.com) and point it toward the IP. You can set this up with whoever hosts your domain name (EXANIUM.COM). But I have turned your shared security on for you, and the padlock will appear in the browser all throughout the checkout process. If you have any further questions, just let us know.
