That's a tough one. I assume that once you get an IP address from MC, anyone on the Internet can see you.

What if you Disable the site in your Admin Panel?

What's the answer, MC Admins?

undejj is right,

Disable your site in the admin panel. you will still be able to make changes and see them but your customers will see a message saying the site is under construction.

Keep in mind that if you disable the store while disabled obviously no one can order....... I find doing the updates while live works for us.....

I think it depends on what you are trying to keep from being seen, While I am new to monstersmile.gif, I see that our site is online from the get go, and thats fine, we are adding text and other pages, however, I noticed that parts of this are small sniplets of the page, if changing the over all theme is what your interested in doing, I suggest that you make those changes as you go, if your adding more product, click the hide and unhide switchs for those items, if your adding terms pages and the like, I suggest that you edit your pages using some other program like dreamweaver, or coffee cup, or front page, for example, you can add a front page web site on your hard drive and import your site into it, you can then edit pages, however realize that your monstersmile.gif site will be differen as they use little sections to put together the entire page, while frontpage edits the page as a whole.

I also go in as Im editing my pages and then save the eliments to text files so I have a backup. That would be a good feature to download the text files for backup purposes, then you would have a better idea of what is going on. They really have a good system here, because you don't have to have alot of html knowledge to make very good looking store fronts.

Hey T-Shirt,
I wanted to do the same thing for a while and was asking all the monstersmile.gif Guru's how to do it, just in case I screwed something up while making changes.
The only way I know of, and its spendy, is to purchase another store from monstersmile.gif, work on it till your satisfied, than cancel the first store and open the second under the same URL, to customers all the difference is a new look, but to you and monstersmile.gif its a whole new store.
Just an idea

yeah, I thinks I'll stick with the 'lil by lil changes' dats over my head-budget
