When I updated to IE7 i used a string agent utility to get the WYSIWYG editor to work. Now There was an auto update and I have IE8 and that user string doesnt work and neither does the WYSIWYG (i have compatibility view on for all websites), is there a new user string utility I can use or how do I get the WYSIWYG to work again with IE8?

Thank you,
Michele

Never mind I just reverted back to IE7.

Michelle,
How did you do this? I couldn't get it to revert and have had to use this convoluted method involving another computer with IE7. Can't use WYSIWYG or do a File Upload with 8. Please give me instructions.

I THINK what i did (if I remember correctly) was go into control panel... add/remove programs and just deleted IE8 and it automatically goes back to IE7. The way I found out though is to search on Google for "reverting IE8 to IE7" or something similar. I would do that first to double check that I am not forgetting anything. Hope that helped!

thanks. I did the add/remove and got IE7 with no add-ons, then was able to get add-ons back but the WYSIWYG on the monstersmile.gif site won't work. I just get "Your browser must be IE5.5 or above to display the EditWorks control. A plain text box will be displayed instead." and the html code view. Frustrating!
Was this why you were using a string utility? And, if so, where did you get that?
Sorry, to use you for tech support but I appreciate the assistance!
Terri

UPDATED REPLY: I just found the string utility. There's a link to it on an OLD 2007 thread here talking about the very same issue back then. <big sigh> I wish this site would just be compatible with Firefox. That would make life so much easier. Between always getting a certificate error when I go to log in to my admin panel, this crazy workaround, and the never-going-to-happen migration ... I need to think about moving to a new platform.

Great. I don't think I saw the email / announcement on that.
