The addition of custom attributes is huge and could make my decision to move to v7 much easier. If I'm understanding this feature correctly, when someone searched for batteries on my site, and I had custom attributes setup for voltage, once the search was done a filter option would display allowing the user to choose from pre-defined voltages to further narrow down their product selection. Is that assumption correct? Does the site have to use the built-in search to use this, or is it done at the category level (instead of having to search for batteries, once they navigated into a battery category with products that have attributes, the filter options will display)?

Also, when will the demo site be updated with this functionality?

I also have a question about price levels - I know there was an issue before (in v7) where the functionality of price levels was not the same as in v4 (i.e. you couldn't actually assign a price, it had to be a percentage or dollar amount off). Has this been fixed?

Looks like v7 is coming into it's own now.

I asked this not long ago and was told yes - price levels can do dollar amounts now - http://forums.monstersmallbusiness.com/ind...st&p=140090

Katt is correct and your assumption about attributes is as well. The demo store will be updated when the release goes out. The filtered option will be in the search section when searching for specified keywords.

I hope this helps explain and gets you motivated to move over to 7.x. We have worked hard to make that software a leading storefront application and we believe this will help put us over the top.

Thanks Eddie (and Katt).

What I am trying to accomplish (without purchasing a separate search service like SLI or Nextopia) is this, which uses the attributes at the category level:
http://www.westsidewholesale.com/electrical/wall-plates

Once I click on the Wall Plates category on the main page, I'm brought to the page referenced above. You can now filter by category, brand, color, gang, etc..

Can the new attributes feature be used at the category level, or would a user would have to search for a word first?

Do you see any reason why categories couldn't be setup as searches to take advantage of the attribute filters? So instead of having a [traditional] hierarchical navigation, each category would actually be comprised of a search string. Obviously each product would have to have use correct keyword.

In the initial implementation this cannot be done. We are always continuing to improve the software which is one of the benefits of being on the 7x platform. This is something that we will consider for the future. I will add this feature request to our internal database.
