Full Version: Rip Dataport?

Last week, we were moved from the monstercommercesites.com servers to the "more dynamic" servers on netsol.com.

We were warned ahead of time that there might be some emails lost during this move, and sure enough, an Order Alert email disappeared before we got it. Not really a big deal, we knew it was coming and were on top of it.

Now, however, Dataport won't work. It logs in, Sends, and Recieves, but no information is exchanged.

After multiple calls to Support, we are left with "It's a known issue and we are working on it", so multiple people are obviously having the same problems.

Its been several days and nothing is resolved. We are now manually creating our shipments(copy/paste your life away) and manually putting tracking numbers back into the site. This is easily 45 minutes a day, 45 minutes that could be spent putting up new product or doing something more productive. We also used Dataport for inventory control operations, but that's out the window.

At this point, our migration has been put off until next year, who knows when, so we don't even have that hated XML file that's caused so many others so much grief.

So is Dataport officially dead? If so, what recourse do we have? As things are right now, we can't go into the Christmas season with any semblance of efficiency.

DataPort is NOT dead and I apologize if the information shared with you led you to believe that. PM me your ticket number and I will follow up to make sure that you get the help you need. If you're using DP version 5, there is something that is required in order to make it work once you've moved servers.

Chris, can you let us in on what that is? Renewing the token doesn't work.

Well, it looks like we have a need, don't we?

The short version is that you'll need to regenerate a token with the moved store (not migrated). This is simply put: removing the existing DP store and recreating it within DataPort. The secure URL should be the same (whatever is under Security Settings: Settings > Site Security) and of course your administrator usenames and passwords will be identical to what you used prior to the move.

I would actually recommend deleting the DP store and then resynching everything again. The only caveat is this: if you have data sitting waiting for the upload...that'll be deleted when you delete the store.

Does that clear it up?

Ah, yeah.

I removed the store through the configuration and created a new one, regenerating the token along the way. It re-synched after creation, but didn't bring any of the new categories or products in that I created today.

Should I try completely uninstalling Dataport and reinstalling? Is it possible the store is sitting in cache and pulling from that?

EDIT: I just tested DP4, and it had no problems with the server switch - downloaded the new products & categories fine.

An update: I put a ticket in and the issue has been resolved. There's a special URL you have to use.

Are you saying that DP 4 and DP 5 work with NetSOL v7 sites?

No, we're still on v4, but the server we were on was moved last week and required changes to Dataport settings.
