Hey all.
I've had this list posted on the V7 boards for a few hours with no help! I sure hope that we can all create the support on V7 that we have had over here on V4 for years. Anyhow, Im working like mad on my migration and throught I might get some quicker help by posting here.
Working on my migration right now...have a few questions.
1. On product detail pages, everything butts up tight to the left column. I want to add some padding or reduce the size of the center container. I adjusted the center by reducing the % in general settings, but now the right column is moving slightly left and Im getting slight side scrolling?
>How can I stop the product details from hugging the left?
>I do intend on increasing both the left and right column by about 4 or 5 pixels (need to get around to redoing the bg images)
2. Just found the forms designer! Guess I wont have to do the I-frame trick, but does anyone have info on "styling" the form?
3. What is the name of the style control that changes color and size of the product name within the product details page?
4. Is there any way to change "personalization" globally from "required" to "not required" without plinking on each item individually.
5. Has anybody managed to set up a great product details template they'd like to share?

6. I offer a custom shipping option - Free UPS Ground with a minimum $75 purchase. I tested an order, and the free shipping is the "only" shipping choice showing up? I want all shipping options to show up...and for the free to show if the customer hit the $75 min.

Looks like you have found the answers to some of your questions already.
You might try something like this to scale the search box - to get it to align better - experiment with the %
As for #6, the cart on the side only displays the lowest possible shipping method. I would prefer the option to have a set number of choices show up, though not sure it is possible.
Worse though is when you have enough items for 'free shipping' in your cart and click 'checkout' guess what, only the paid options show up - free shipping is not an option. If under 'shipping options' you click 'click here for rates' free shipping option does show up. not intuitive at all. need to find a solution....
On a side note, all your links on the left under 'martini recipes' are absolute. not sure if thats what you wanted or not.

Are my martini recipes links rendering oddly in your browser? I did not mean to set them absolute...I just wanted some margin on the left as they were crashing into the red line at the left of the left column bg? Help!

Hey PowderDay...this was fully intended. The links will be accurate when the DNS change is made. I wanted to mix both absolute and relative links.

This isn't the freshest of threads but it happens to contain my exact issue: we just began migration and I'm trying to get my header to look sorta like MartiniGuy's, with our logo on the left and a couple of buttons on the far right with something graphicy that goes all the way across. I like that the whole page collapses.

I designed it in photoshop, sliced it up in photoshop, output images and HTML, opened it all in DW and began adjusting. If you want the code, Id be happy to post it when I get back home tonight.

That code would significantly decrease my resting heart rate - thank you thank you thank you! I tried everything I could think of, including hard coding, but I couldn't get it to work. I'm having trouble supplanting whatever code governs that area of the pages, and can't seem to get rid of the right hand theme graphic. I managed to swap out the logo but I can't find where that right hand graphic is or I'd just swap it out too. Oh well - I can't seem to get it all to line up anyway. Your code would be so incredibly helpful. In the meantime I'll keep looking at the theme css and see what can be done with it.

Its possible that you might have that stupid WYSIWIG editor on. I think whenever it is on, code doesn't show where it is suppose to, so go and turn it off, then you probably will see the code.
I was one of the people "postponed" until next year, but I opted to migrate anyway. They said all I had to do was ask! Apparently they are just swamped with migration questions. It sure sounds like it's a lot harder than it should be, I'm just anxious to get it done before the holidays!
Ok...please remember that you are going to have to work this to death before it does anything for your own site. The biggest factor is to include a cell that can grow and shrink to accomodate various resolutions.
Unfortunately, this is the older code on my V4 (and currently showing on my V7 test site) - but I am going to redo the header in absolute accesible W3C compliant CSS as the last step before my migration completes.
Regardless, this should help resolve the questions. Grab the code, put it in DW or whatever you use and take a look at what it is...then start adjusting.

And yeah, the WYSIWYG thingy - ack. Tried it with, tried it without - I think what I'm looking for might be in the external .css file for the theme. I guess that's part of 'working it to death'.

Yeah, it could be a little daunting - the system is pretty 'different', you can't just click here click there and badda bing you're done. Its becoming intuitive, though. I think when people first see the 'newness' they might freak out about all the things they've got to set up from inventory to operations to layout and design - and to struggle with a new interface on top of that could be scary. For me, I haven't gotten far enough into it yet. My fingers are crossed, though. Keep us 'posted'.

Yep I agree - being able to work on some design issues would be FANTSTIC. I did what I could through the demo store NetSol had up, and that was immensely helpful, but yes, more beforehand designing would be wonderful. I'm trying to get the design presentable in like 6 days and then open up to the rest of our team for operations, inventory and some of the initial settings that didn't transfer over. I have to say the Migration Log was good to have - an initial look at that at least gave me an idea of how much fixing we'd have to do. Most of our stuff seemed to have transferred over.
Our challenge is the 8 PAGES of custom pages for category landing pages and in-depth product information/content. All image maps with huge amounts of links. I'm surprised that most of it transferred over - the links to the old pages in the image maps seem to forward to the new pages without reprogramming. I'll still want to fix all of that, but at least our team won't freak out because the links on all 200 or so pages are broken.

Re: the "WYSIWYG" (and I use that term loosely) thingy: I'm really glad we can totally disable it from even appearing in the Operations tab.

Awww, I'd be honoured to have you take a look. You saved me much time, headaches, angst, etc. Can't thank you enough. I'm pleased with the time it took for me to get it presentable for the rest of the team. I didn't change it all that much, as they will no doubt have thoughts of their own which might semi send me back to the drawing board.

I'm really pleased with the 'rounded corner' effect I got for the content area by using custom buttons and butting it up against the top frame. As you can see, however, I'm having trouble with the 'go' button, as well as some of the buttons on the right sticking out to far. Grrr can't seem to sort it. I've tried resizing the repeating graphic on the right side, making it wider and narrower, I've played with the column width, yadda etc. et al. Any ideas? Its probably some little thing or setting I've overlooked.
I had the same problem with the product layout page that you had with it butting up against the left. I managed to center it on the page but it still looks sorta blah. Is there a .css somewhere with style tags in it for the product layout page or is it all accessible in the designer? I'll have to try putting some background colors into the product layout cells and maybe some reverse type effect.
Oh and your buttons - noice! Your site no doubt hits the sweet spot with your audience. Bravo.
EDIT: Ah, discovered the product layout 'Insert' thingies so I can design a page with a table and Insert the various values where I want them.

The overall structure looks good! Nice job...
The animated gif images loading on the center of your home page are dragging the load speed to a crawl...right now Im on a super fast fiber optic connection and the site was loading like a turtle on slow-mo. Might want to check that.
Thanks for the kind words - and my buttons...I fell in love with a $30 (or so) download proggy that makes really nice buttons! Saves soooo much Pshop time.
I'll check back in the AM and give you more thoughts - my eyes are crossing and my wife is calling for me to "quit sneaking away to check the site!"

Well supposedly they CAN be recreated. You create a new custom page and use the 'insert' dropdown to insert a 'Quick Order' command. The problem is I have no idea how to specify WHICH products go in there - it seems to put all of them in. Yikes. I really hope our old ones are in there somewhere.
I got an answer from Andy in the other forum but I couldn't make heads or tails of it. So I asked him to please draw a picture ;-)

I've got me quickorder pages going along nicely. There's a lot of them but this is pretty straightforward.
I managed to use agkits code snippet to get the search box to a good size, however I'm stumped still about the right column being all wonky with the "modules" bumping out past the inside edge of the column. I've tried resizing the column, putting different size graphics in there, etc. I've exhausted what I can think of to try. If anyone has any thoughts as to how to fix it I'd appreciate it.
