Full Version: Finer Control Of Storefront?
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?
hoganp
Couple things.

1. Does anyone know how to (is there any way to) turn off the bottom breadcrumbs?

2. Is there any way to change how Items are displayed? Ex. Text to the right of the product image w/buy button underneath.

In general I'm just trying to get finer control over the Storefront display area.

TIA. smile.gif

Hi HoganP

The first item you mention is not possible yet. That is a good idea for a new feature request though.

The second you can do if you put all your content in the long description. The only thing you need to put in is the product name, and then everything else can go in that area. So, you would probably want a clear image for your product image and your default buy button, and then put all the HTML in the long description to make it look just as you like. Then you can use remote cart scripting (see article here) to make the buy button appear in the long description.

Probably a fair amount of work, but it will make it look exactly as you want!

Also, for either item, you could get custom programming done. It would certainly take the work out of #2, and make #1 possible. If you'd like this, please call 877.663.5169 and ask for John. He's the one to call to get programming done to tailor your site to your needs.

Thanks!

Thanks Sabres00,

I'll try the workaround for the item description and image. Is that something that could be added to a future version as well?

Thanks. smile.gif

One of your original questions was how to turn off the bottom bread crumbs... my question... is how do you turn on any of the breadcrumbs? I do not see them in my editor anywhere...

If I am not mistaken the breadcrumbs are the >>>>> arrows that are usually after the category name in the detailed view.

I think this is correct,

Hi Everyone,

The breadcrumbs are on automatically. There is no way to turn them on or off (as far as I know).

Breadcrumbs are the links you see in the storefront area as you click on your categories. One at the top and one at the bottom -

Main Category > Sub Category > Sub Sub Category > etc..

Customers can use these links to get back to a parent category without starting from the Main Category and drilling back down.

Hi!

hoganp is right smile.gif Breadcrumbs the links "Category > SubCategory > Product" etc. at the top and bottom of your center page. You cannot turn these on and off at this point in time. This was a decision made in order to ensure that version 4.0 was as Search Engine Friendly as possible. Breadcrumbs are essentially keyword links - two of search engine spider's favorite food groups stuart.gif so the advantages that they bring to MC storeowners outweigh the disadvantages in terms of appearance...Although, breadcrumbs are also a very standard navigational tool so your customers will also find them helpful for this purpose...

Thank you!

Thank you for this explanation. As I was sitting here reading this thread, I was like "What the hell are breadcrumbs?!?"

You can always do what I did and make the text color the same as the page ... then they will still be there for the engines, but you wont have to look at them?

I think I'm talking about the same thing??

I have that problem a lot. smile.gif

I will submit it as a tech ticket with some obvious links. Probably not the right place (being a duplication and all.)

So, disregard all previous stuff. smile.gif
