Any opinions on this? It seems like it would be better to put more products on each category page so people aren't flipping between pages to see all your products, but having too many products on one Cat page can take a long time to load.
I have about 600 products in my store, and currently displaying 40 per Category page. This keep some of my Cat products all on one page which I like, but some cats still have 3 or 4 pages with this many. So if I lowered it to 20 then I'll have twice as many pages to scroll through.
Just wondering what ya'll think? thanks!

Thats a great question. I currently have 26 products per page. Depending on the size of the pictures it might make the load time of the page fairly high if you have 40. I do see what you are saying though...it's kind of a catch 22.

It is a good question, but here is another angle to think about. I agree about load times, also, having to scroll through pages can be a pain, but to me it is also dependent on how many links you all ready have on your page. Remember, the idea of not having more than 100 links on a page, SEO wise, if you allready have 75 links around the page, then you put 40 products you are way over 100.

Good call Rick. I wasn't thinking of that.

Thanks,
Yeah, its a battle, You want to design your site for the user, but if you don't balance it with SEO stuff, then no ones looking at the site. I get this all the time. We have to be careful implementing ideas, not every idea is good for everything even though on the surface it may seem like a no brainer.

I've never heard of the 100 links rule (for lack of a better word)! I have 100 links almost exactly, due to price range, age range, category links plus the faq, about us, etc. not including the products. Yikes.
