I'm offering free shipping to teachers in my area, plus a 5% discount on their order. Is there a way to do both of these?

Currently there is not a way to do so. You will only be able to offer one, or the other as you can only use one discount code at a time.

What I recommend is maybe a custom shipping method for the teachers that will be for free shipping but they will have to choose this. The problem with this is that anyone could technically choose it then.

The other option is to use price levels. Basically setup a price level called Teachers, and then set the pricing of all of your products for that price level to be 5% off. Then you would just have to have the teachers register first on your site through formmail. You can then enter their information as a customer on your site and you can set them up to that price level.

Okay, I'll give the pricing level option a try. I currently have a custom shipping option for free shipping above $100, but if the order is under $100 then I guess I can't give the teachers free shipping and 5% off.

Will the V7 version allow us to use more than 1 discount code at a time, or chose a % disount AND free shipping in the same discount code instead of one or the other? That would be a nice feature.

i thought the same but one of the other merchants said it can be done if the 1st code is a link. The cookies register on the comp then the 2nd code can be entered manually on the checkout form.

I have used the discount code first then pressed the 'back' button and entered a gift certificate number and both registered. It's a little extra work, but it works.
