Full Version: Ups Shipping Inaccuracies

I know real-time shipping has been discussed several times but I wanted to point out that the problem still exists and is wreaking havoc with our pricing. This is due to the inability of passing dimensions to the UPS 9.0. If we sell a lightweight item such as a stretched canvas or stretcher bar or even an easel at 20 lbs, we receive a shipping rate that is much much much lower than the real cost. After much investigation, we learned it is the fault of our MC software and not UPS. A 4 lb package with no dimensions is "defaulting" to a standard size at UPS but our actual package is long and skinny. This actually puts us in a higher category for that 4 lb package. Consequently our customers receive a quote for a low shipping cost and the real cost is sometimes many times higher. To compensate we've had to artificially inflate weights from 3 lbs to 70 lbs in order to make it work. If dimensions were passed to UPS we would not have this problem!!

If you list the 'dimensional weight' of each item and not the actual weight you wouldn't have that problem of your larger items...
