Store is now up and running with lots of clean transactions.
now we have to utilize inventory in an environment where we have multiple
drop ship partners and products with variants yet we are stocking on about 50%
of the different products in our warehouse.

need to see if im going about this the right way.

Thanks in advance

Hi Duane,

I am missing the question here, or did you just want a site review...sorry, I am little slow today.. blink.gif

Also for future reference:

I am on a 1024 x 768 browser screen and I have to scroll. If I have to scroll then people on 800x600 def. have to scroll, which is a no no.

I reccommend reducing the size of some of those graphics in your message editor.

As far as variants,

Are you using advanced variants?

duane
Krazykicks,

I have considered reducing the home page a bit for the 800 user but
people have not been complaining. May still do it.

Yes we use the advanced variant section.
The problem is that we dent want to send an email to one of our manufacturers when the order is initiated if we have it in stock.

exp we may stock queen blue lava rock sheets but not king, the king order needs to notify the manufacturer and the queen should stay with us and be resolved with inventory.

????

I would hate to think you would have to do this but a way to do that would be set up each size as a separate product so you can use the email for one and not the other.

Other than that you might have to manually contact your shippers.
duane
I don't want to resort to that either.

If I had to
How would I break down the different sizes on that page?

1 picture and say three options.

exp. Hawaiian Lava rocks comforter default twin
option (variant 2) Queen
option (variant 3) King

I'm guessing for the stock items point within the product to our warehouse.

I would have thought that a lot of people were doing a mixture of stock/non stock with multiple variants??????????

Strapworks.com
I don't believe this can be done with the current monstersmile.gif V.4 system. You may want to contact monstersmile.gif Custom Programming to see if this can be added to your store.
We do utilize stock/non stock variants for some of our products, but we contact the warehouse manually for multiple reasons, but one being that this is a guaranteed way to know that they got the order.
Just my two cents

I believe Strapworks is correct, but I'm not certain I'm fully understanding. Let me recap, and if I'm not correct, please follow up and we can review from there.

You want to have advanced variants control inventory. You use a warehouse for some of these variants but not others. You keep stock on them, but if you are out of stock, you want the warehouse to be notified that you need them to fulfill an order?

If that's correct, you'll need custom programming. This is due to two things. First, products with variants cannot segregate that some variant options use the warehouse option and others do not. The other reason is that the warehouse function does not send if you don't have quantity in stock. It always sends. Usually if you are using the warehouse option, you either 1) don't keep track of stock, or 2) maintain stock daily from their numbers by using DataPort to update all products manually.

Hope this is helpful. If it's not what you mean, please let us know. Thanks! smile.gif

We have been populating most of the product that don't have the issue of stock and variants. I guess what we are going to ask monstersmile.gif for is a warehouse
per advanced variant, that with advanced.

One think I don't understand about advanced variant inventory is
what can it trigger? exp 3 variants King, queen, twin queen is in stock with an inventory number assigned the other two do not have inventory and should
drop ship from mfg warehouse. I would like to fire off the MFG specific order
notification on the two without inventory and not fire off order notification to the MFG warehouse on in stock items.

Also I am still a bit new and am unfamiliar with the "data port"

Where do you submit for custom programming or enhancements?

Thanks,

all

Hi Duane-

You can make a custom programming request at http://www.monstercommerce.com/custom_prog...equest_form.asp.

If you have some questions about dataport your best bet is placing a trouble ticket so a tech can explain to you whatever questions you have.
