Has anyone seen the new Google Analytics? Just came out today. What do you think about the new reports?
KennyE
I don't see any difference. What looks new?

Its like a whole new interface, different, maybe better. Definitely more graphics, quicker, and it seems like more ways to look at analytics. Really have only been in it for less than an hour, kinda trying to get use to it.

Not everyone has been transitioned over to the "new" design yet. From the Analytics front page:

We're excited to announce the newly redesigned Google Analytics.
Over the next several weeks, we will be migrating all existing Analytics accounts to the new Google Analytics interface. You will be notified by email once your account has been migrated. For an entire month you will be able to access both the original interface and the new interface. During the migration, you should experience no interruption in service and you'll be able to see all of your data regardless of which interface you use. For a sneak peek at the new Google Analytics, take a look at the following resources.

Ahh no wonder,

The site overlay works now, have never seen it before, it never worked for us. There are new graphs, they seem to be smoother and clear to work with, will you roll your mouse over points, you get info(visits, page views, etc.) a lot easier to read than before.

Whats cool is all of the old data is in there, I haven't had to change any code yet, etc. . .

They are calling it beta of course.

Mine hasnt been updated yet. Thanks for the heads up!!

Guess I hadn't been paying enough attention. There's a very large banner at the top of the page annoucing the new features. Just took the demo "Tour". Looks interesting. Ahh ... almost h@te to say that about the big G. But yeah, it does look interesting.
tahj1024
wow that is pretty cool. it is a lot better but the site overlay still doesnt work for me.

My favorite new feature is the capability to send scheduled emails of the data to your inbox or someone else's. I do not like the map overlay feature as much, as it does not show the little dots for each city but just color codes continents, which you have to click through to region. I'm just checking it out for the first time right now.

For those wanting to get the SITE OVERLAY feature to work, I believe that you have to set your default page specifically (index.asp). You should be able to do this under Analytics Settings > Profile Settings > Edit Profile Information. I'm not positive on that, but it's worth a shot.

Hello Connie -

You can use the built in Google Analytics feature which you can read about here.

You will need to go to Settings >> Site Wide Settings >> System Options and you will see two options regarding Google Analytics, Enable Google Analytics and Google Analytics Account Number. Set this to yes and place the Google Analytics account number into the necessary field. This can be found by logging into your analytics account and clicking on edit >> Check status. (UA-xxxxxx-x)

If you have any further questions feel free to contact our support team.

Thank you,

-Eddie

I'm glad that you like the new Google Analytics interface and information, because I know I do. However, my educated guess is that the Urchin system will not be updated any time soon. The version running on our servers is a purchased version from Urchin. After it was released, Urchin came out with a new hosted version that couldn't be purchased and installed on a separate server. Shortly thereafter, if my memory serves, Google purchased Urchin and they rebranded it as Analytics. Of course, I could be wrong.

Google Analytics is technically the upgrade, although in my experience it doesn't show you the same amount of information. For instance, Urchin is a direct log of your server stats, meaning that you can see each time a specific file or image is loaded (helping you track down hot-linking). I'm personally glad to have both options available.

I never look at Urchin stats. Not certain why I would want to look at Urchin. Maybe someone will enlighten us, but I started this thread because of the new Version of Google Analytics. I find it better than the previous versoin of Google Analytics, but every now and then I look at the older Google analytics. One thing I have not found in the new GA that was in the old GA is the Marketing reports.

The following link helped me to find a lot of my previous favorite reports in GA that have changed or been moved.

I hope that helps.

Thanks James,

The reports in those sections I can find in the new GA. What I was trying to speak of was the Marketing Dashboard. I miss that one from the old GA
