hi,
i'm in the process of making the decision as to whom to use for my merchant account. it seems that with free processing unitl 2008 that google is a no-brainer, but there is a lot about it that i still don't understand. i'm hoping that there is someone out there who is using google checkout as their only merchant account and can answer a few basic questions for me.

1. what does the checkout page look like...is it only the google shopping cart, or is there another option if the customer doesn't want to sign up with google?

2. if there is indeed another option, how does google handle these transactions? and...are there additional fees associated with these transactions.

3. has your experience with google checkout been positive or negative?

any input, as well as a link to your site so that i can see the checkout in action, would be great.

thanks,

We actually have linkpoint gateway and use Google Checkout as well.

1. The customer chooses on our site to pay with either our gateway or Google Checkout. The shopping cart is on our site, the customer does not use the shopping cart at google, they only see their order at Google after they choose the Google Checkout button on our site.

2. Google doesn't offer you the ability to use another payment gateway, monstersmile.gif does.

3. Our experience with Google Checkout has been positive.

As you state, the free processing thru the end of 2007 is hard to pass up. It has helped our bottom line, as well, from what we can tell Google is guaranteeing all orders. That is they are taking the risk on orders that they do not cancel due to Fraud Risks. Feel more than free to checkout our site http://www.macfriends.com

Hello Nancie,

It has been our experience that merchants need both a merchant account and payment gateway along with Google Checkout. We have had customers sign up only with Google Checkout and then they have had to come back and sign up with our merchant account services because of loss of sales. Good news, our merchant account and gateway integrates seamlessly with your MonsterCommerce shopping cart, and can work simultaneously with Google Checkout. So, if we can help in any way we would be happy to.

Hope that helps,

Julie
