Hi guys,

Our small company needs some help quickly!! Our orders have started to increase and we are having efficiency problems. We have searched the forums but have not seen any user feedback on this question in a while and since software changes and it is now Feb 07, it is worth revisiting.

Does anyone here user Ordermotion with multiple monstersmile.gif stores (or monstersmile.gif and other shopping cart providers) and if so what is your experience with it? How does it compare to other solutions?

Our situation:

1. We have multiple webstores (with all drop ship suppliers - no live physical inventory on our part) and we need all-in-one solution to integrate them and we prefer a hosted solution only because we will have sales people working remotely in other states.

2. Our accountant uses quickbooks so we need something that can easily synchronize or export to it. We would like to be able to see products sold per customer, or send an invoice right from within the order management system and not quickbooks preferably.

3 We need ability to synchronize with all order information including order status updates, automatically import a tracking number from an email and synchronize to the shopping cart, etc. We also need CRM functions like tracking notes/phone calls on a customer. Essentially we want to bring all data entry or data duplication to a complete minimum (right now our sales team is complaining because of all the copy and pasting between different systems.

4. We have some very customizable products or products with a ton of variants and we would like a system that could accomodate for this in terms of the way it stores product information and related products.

We have looked into Stone Edge and are considering it, but unfortunately the remote sales people we will be getting in the future makes this a less attractive solution, which is why Ordermotion, Netsuite and others are the main ones we are considering.

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. We are afraid to adopt a system and invest lots of time, only to find it was a poor solution. We are looking for honest opinions... detective.gif

Many Thanks from everyone in our company!!!

I'll be honest with you. As a previous customer of Order Motion... we hated it. The fees are way outta control. You get penalized for doing a lot of orders (sounds like a Yahoo store to me)!

For the cost of 1 year of Ordermotion with multiple websites... you can buy StoneEdge, buy a server, buy windows terminal server, and have your sales reps remote in...

I've seen a little of the back end of Netsuite and it sure is pretty. It does a ton. I don't believe it integrates with QB as they have their own accounting built in. It is also web based accounting (I'm not a big fan). Their start up prices are steep. We use StoneEdge for our monstersmile.gif store and hand data entry. What we like about SE is it works with so many carts. As we expand our websites, we have the options to try lots of carts out if we want too. Their tech support is great too. Very responsive.

BeautynHealth - When did you guys leave ordermotion? The pricing they gave me this past week was $349.95 per month, and $0.50 per order no matter how many items. THey said that this was up to 10,000 orders per month and was for unlimited users. They said there are no hidden fees so although its not great it didn't sound bad for multiple stores and the fact that we are way shorter of 10,000 orders a month...

Ya the idea of using StoneEdge through a windows terminal is a possibility, as long as it is stable and works 99% of the time. I wonder if they have user permissions in StoneEdge, as we don't want some of our sales people to have access to all the stores..

SST - Did you find advantages in Netsuite over Stone Edge apart from the fact that it's web based? Also why would you need to hand data entry with SE? I thought it automatically synchronizes with online stores...

Serene,

As far as pricing and when we left, not exactly sure of the date. The pricing you mentioned above does sound close. Think about it this way: 4199.40 / year for Ordermotion... plus your cost per order... I can't give you specifics as far as how many orders per day we were doing (competitors troll here)... but at 0.50 per order, its roughly $8000-$12000 per year in order fees.

THAT IS A LOT!

The downfall of using OrderMotion and Netsuite..... well if your internet connection goes down... you cant even put phone orders in... your business comes to a halt!

StoneEdge is less than 2000...

the price of a good server with plenty of hard drive space, tape backups, windows terminal licensing (can be picked up on ebay)... roughly 4000...

high quality internet connection... depending on where you are, I have seen t1's with routers for 325 a month near me, etc...

You come out ahead not going with internet based applications

Serene -

Yes, the Stone Edge Order Manager has a security system that you can use to limit access to various parts of the program based on user groups.

Also - Make sure that whichever solution you choose has good support for multiple Web stores, since that is part of your requirements. The Order Manager can import from any mix of Web stores, Amazon, eBay, Shop.com, etc. into one database, where you can manage all of your orders together. It will remember the source of each order, and retain the branding of your stores by using the appropriate company information in emails and on invoices and packing slips depending on the source of each order.

And finally - Yes, there are advantages to a hosted solution, but there are also advantages to one that runs on your own computers. You own your data, and (at least with our system) you have complete access to it (with the exception of encrypted credit card data). It is much easier, and less expensive, to customize it or have it customized for your needs than a hosted solution. You could also argue that it is more secure: is someone more likely to try to hack into data at NetSuite or Order Motion, or into data on your local computers?

Hope that helps,
SST
We hand enter phone orders and eBay orders and our pre-Internet customer orders into SE.

Barney - Thanks for your response. SE is one of the two main options we are considering now. We will be calling you guys today so we can ask a bunch of questions... :-)

Ok current Ordermotion users we want your opinions!!. Especially if you run multiple stores with them! Ordermotion told us they have many monstercommerce customers so I am surprised nobody is responding from that camp to this thread...

Bump - will try for a little longer, otherwise I will create a new thread just about Ordermotion...

I think the lack of response from Order Motion and NetSuite - either from the companies or their users - emphasizes a key difference between them and Stone Edge Technologies. Their companies, and their software, are focused on larger companies. Stone Edge has been focusing solely on small merchants - the kind of companies that participate in forums like this one - since we started selling ecommerce software back in 2000. It shows in the design of our software, in our pricing, in our support policies, and in our participation in shopping cart and small business forums. For example, in the last 60 days or so we have picked up two new users who left NetSuite for the Stone Edge Order Manager. The reasons they cited included cost, ease of use and the ability to customize the program.
