Our retail store has a layaway, although it doesn't get used often. Has anyone ever tried to do it online? Or maybe a 90 days or 6 months same as cash type thing.

I think thats a great idea!
I may try it if you dont mind. I dont want to do the credit thing I see, to much happening getting stuck, but we wouldnt mind a layaway plan for people to be able to swing things easier.

newbie,

If MC gets us a subscription section then all you would need to do is set up a subscription for it. I deal with purchase orders a lot so I'm used to billing. And this is similar.

I know quite a few online store owners who offer layaway. They claim it works great for them and attribute many thousands of dollars in sales to layaway which they are sure would never have occured otherwise.

I've never tried it though. I have a hard time believing it's worthwhile.

We call it a reserve and it works great. However we do not hold it for that long, and it requires for a 25% deposit of the merchandise cost.

Also, if they choose not to purchase the item after, then there is no refund of the deposit. To me there is really no loss unless you are holding it for more then 2 weeks
