second post first one in wrong section (how do i)
WOW Have seen some great sites here.

I just signed up for e commerce with this monstersmile.gif.
Know nothing about web site development. Did not even shop and compare.

I plan on selling Printed TAGS to other businesses.
I will not have much of a product line just TAGS.
It looks like I could use the categories, sub categories, and qty discount to compute the price of custom jobs like an estimating system with restrictions.

I have not seen anything posted here in regards to this and would like some feedback.
Am I going about this wrong? Is there a e commerce solution for estimating for mfg’s.

I have set up a example of this on my site printedTAGS.com. Will I need to enable, the unready site, in order for you all to see it?

Thanks
Rob (wonders if he is lost in the ecommerce thing).

Welcome to monstersmile.gif Forums Rob,

Not sure the exact details on how to set your site up, do you only offer one tag, or do you offer say different sizes of tags, or different materials that tags are made out of, colors. If you only have one category, you can always add another later if you need it. But you can deal with qty discount without setting up different categories. Each product has the abiltiy to set discounts on qty on its own record.

Say I need 250 red tags that are two inch tags, and 1000 white tags that are 5 inch tags, do you offer that type of product? or is it all of your tags are one size, style, and color?

I plan to sell custom made and printed tags.
Any size many configurations.
I was thinking I could put popular configurations as products.
Using the category and subcategory structure to guide the customer thru the specifics.
Such as
Top category would be size (a growing list of popular sizes starting with say 8 different sizes).
Then a sub cat in size would be printing specs such as printed 1 color 1 side, 2 colors 1 side, one color both sides, etc maybe 6 subs here
A product choice in the print spec sub cat would be the paper choice maybe 5 products here.
The resulting product than could have variance for other add on items. Qty discounts to complete the pricing.

Resulting in an estimating system that would cover a unlimited growing list of the popular combinations.

I can show you what I was thinking at my site set up as an example and have enabled.
ONLY THE FIRST ITEM IN EACH CATEGORY GOES THRU TO THE END
I was looking for some feedback before going on.
PrintedTAGS.com

Thanks

You got it, setup a couple of categories first and see if you get what you want, then go from there. Sounds like you have a good understanding of how to lay it out. Be sure to come back here for answers to those questions which you need help with.
