Full Version: Search Functionality in Forum needs improvement
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterSmallBusiness > Forum Feedback

Trying entering the search phrase "edit automated e-mails" and you will get "Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show."

Lame. My post here includes all of those terms.

The poor search functionality of these forums has been discussed many times. When is this going to be addressed?

In this case Scott, I believe that is a development issue for the actual provider of the software--not MonsterCommerce.

In 2005 Steph said you were looking into Google Mini to resolve this, but no one has followed up. Surely there must be a better way to integrate search into these forums!

Hey sc123
Great post.

http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&...G=Google+Search
works for me.

google "site:forums.monstersmallbusiness.com search terms" to get results limited to this forum. However, Google won't return anything in restricted forums, which is probably why monstersmile.gif abandoned using it as their de facto engine of the forum.

Why would you use G to search in the forum?

Cuz this forum gets indexed by G. try it!

HERE

And you can kick it up a notch by searching for images on that posting here

That's not the point. My website gets spidered by G Your's too. But I don't use G to search for items on it. Scooter, bet you don't either. I also post regularly on the Harmony-Central Forums. I don't use G to search for posts there, either. I use the provided search. And to paraphrase SC, this one is a bit flakey.

Plus Google doesn't index the member-only sections, i.e. most of what we're searching for.
