For my products, I'm using a thumbnail image and 1 or 2 pix in the image gallery. Since I switched to using the Image Gallery instead of the "Large Image", should I delete the "Large Image" linkin Images? will this affect page loading time?

I'm using the photo from "Large Image" in my "Image Gallery" so I don't want to get rid of the actual photo, but wondering if having the "Large Image", which I'm not using now, will make any difference?

thanks!

BamaCat,
Your images, unless really large, should have a negligible affect on your page load times. What may affect it, to a degree, is if you had a large number of image files in one directory (say, over 500 or so). Otherwise, the system is capable of dealing with your situation with no problem or decrease in speed. If there is a consistent problem then you may want to call tech suppport or open a trouble ticket. Thanks!

Hi!
All of my images are in product images. If I understand you correctly, this means that it could be responsible for causing my really slow page? Is that correct?? I had no idea!!!

you may want to breakdown the product images folder down into categories - for faster loading purposes as well as being easier to find and update your files.

I have 700 or so images in the product images folder. I can no longer upload pictures into that folder using Internet Explorer since there are so many, (I observed it getting progressively worse the more pix I added) so I use Firefox and wait for it to load. I understand now that creating other folders for my product images will affect the loading time there.

My webpages aren't too slow, but slower than they've been. Are you saying that if I split up the images from the product images file, and create one or more files, the actual webpages on my site may load faster?

thanks

Kristin,

Sorry to here that you have all of your images in one folder. I know about the pain, because we have lived through it for a year now. We set up folders once we found out about the negative effects of having all of the images in one folder. We complained that we were not advised of this, before we uploaded all of these images, and yet if it is documented, you as we are suppose to read all documentation before you or we begin to build our sites.

Unfortunately, you just have to bite the bullet, and put folders inside the product images folder and reupload and relink images one at a time. It is gruelling, but after a year, you will get it all done, as have we, almost.

P.S. Come On monstersmile.gif, can't you express this important aspect of designing a website with MC more clearer? How many users have to go through this problem before you wake up to this issue?
