Full Version: Tracking Illegally Linked Pictures
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > Using MonsterCommerce Software
Djangle
Hello,

I found out that several myspace people were using an image off of my site by linking to it directly. Thus using my bandwidth for their background images.

Is there any way to track picture hits to see if there is anything unusually high. I found this one because it was in the 404 error log with a lot of myspace refers.

I have corrected the picture to be a nice little pink fairy on the tough guy's website.

HA HA.

Any suggestions though.

Thanks

Hi Djangle,

While there really isn't an easy way to track this type of thing, you can use Urchin and Google analytics to see which files have been hit from your site the most. You can also see where a lot of the traffic is coming from IP wise which you could use to see if it is My Space or not.

In terms of stopping your images from being used on another site, I recommend checking out Net Enforcers -

http://www.netenforcers.com/

This is a company that deals specifically with copyright issues on the internet and they may be able to help you out.

On our previous cart, with access to the raw traffic logs, it took about two seconds to find these troublesome linkers.

(I know monstersmile.gif's "security" policy on this. I don't expect a reply.)
