I read this article from Hacker Safe and wondered if anyone has had success in sending email reminders to people with abandoned carts. Of course that is providing they went far enough to fill in their information!

"Limoges Jewelry Uses Email to Lure Shoppers Back

Limoges Jewelry, HACKER SAFE since June 2003, is using emails to cart abandons to entice would-be purchasers back to the site. In August, 13.5% of cart abandon email clickthroughs converted into purchases during that visit. This rose to 16.54% in September. Ecommerce Marketing Manager Lara Stache's key recommendations are:

1. The faster you get your first abandon email out, the better the conversion rate
2. Consumers don't mind receiving two messages, especially if they are slightly different messages
3. Free shipping offers get 5%-9% higher clickthrough rates, but slightly lower conversion rates than straightforward shopping reminders"

Thanks for the info, wonder if any one has a template email for this situation that they can share with us. Many who abandon the cart do not leave an email address though.

Here is a link that I found with several email template examples. It has been very helpful in getting customers to return and complete their sale. Very interesting article also.
