I do everything I can to avoid cart abandonment: our shipping method, credit cards accepted, and even shipping charges are in the header of EVERY single page. I hate surprises when shopping and make sure my customers don't have to deal with them, either.
I even removed the registration part of checkout so nobody has to create a username and password, but the abandoned carts continue. We don't ship outside the US but our abandoned carts are seldom from foreign visitors (1 out of the last 9).

It wouldn't make me so crazy if they never tried to check out, but 6 out of the last 9 got as far as 2 Step - Address & Options before disappearing. And no, I don't have any info so I can write to them to ask.
