I have just set up a new gateway with Authorize.net and have a few questions. When the order is processed it doesn't automatically charge the card does it? I have to go in and let the system know I have the merchandise and then to complete the transaction? For those of you that have Authorize.net , is it a fairly simple system?

Right now I am in TEST Mode and it doesn't actually show me any info, as far as completeing a transaction etc...

Do you find that the checks they do can prevent some charge backs?

Any info appreciated,

Hi in2nascar-

You can setup Authorize.net to both "authorize and capture" or "authorize only." We also recommend using their extended security options, click here for more information.

If you have any trouble, please feel free to give tech support a call, we can get you through most setup issues.

Thanks

Since I haven't gone live yet. What if you have multiple items on a sale, but don't have an item in stock, but the customer wants the item you do have. Can you delete an item on the gateway transaction and ship the merchandise you have in stock? Does the gateway allow you to remove items you don't have, and ship the merchandise I do have?

Hi in2nascar,

In your gateway there is a function that allows you to check a box to have a particular sale get settled and deposited into your checking account when your using "authorize only". If you have items that are out of stock and can't be shipped, you have 2 options. First option is to hold the order until everything is ready to ship then check the box to have everything settled. A second option is to lower the transaction amount before settling your batch to accommodate those items that are able to ship. You would then have to enter a new transaction or sale for the remaining items that are able to ship.
