Is it possible to offer free shipping within a certain category, but only when a certain order structure is reached?

I want to be able to have 3 of my products set up for wholesale, offering free shipping, but I only offer the wholesale prices after a minimum of 5 are ordered. Is there a way to do this?

Or, can this be set up for each individual item?

First is this going to be offered only to certain customers or everyone that visits the site? Also is the product going to have a min 5 order amount reguardless?

Also , really late into 4.0 I hope that the ability to add shipping profiles to products will be added. This will solve a lot of shipping problems in which people need certain shipping setting for certian products, etc..just like this situation.

Basically, what I have are three different products which are mine. I am at the stage of wholesaling them. The prices won't be visible but businesses will be able to place their order and get the various discounts on them. Best, would be able to password protect so only approved businesses could enter them, but I don't think this is possible. Although, if it is I'd love to learn how.

The products are sold to anyone, but the whoesale discount price is basically for resellers of our product line. I want to be able to offer free shipping and handling for these types of orders.

The wholesale pricing starts at 5 and varies depending on how many they would like to purchase at one time. I sold 50 the other day, but I didn't process it through my web site.

I believe this is a feature available in the 4.0 software but I am not sure how to use it.

Just my 2 cents......

Yes You can do this by setting up pricelevels

1. Go to inventory>>>>> and click on price levels. Here you would need to create a price level. Name it " wholesale customers" and click add.


2. Go to the product that you want to offer for wholesale and click "quantity discounts tab" (located at top) Here you can display the prices they will get for the amount that they order. enter your amounts..make these amount prices that everyone will see, get, and do not have to log in to recieve.

3. After adding the above....go to the advanced option tab. Here you can do two things you need. Set up the password protection and make the min quantity order for the product. In the price levels box you should see the name of the price level we created and a box. In this box you want to put the amount you want to charge for each product to your wholesale customers (ones that have to log in to see it)

You should also see below this, the spaces to put min and max order amount.

4. Make sure you click update and save.

5. Now you have to place these price levels to the customers you want to have this special pricing. Go to the customers section>>>>customer administration....choose a customer and click edit.

Once on this page, you should see price levels, choose the price level you created. and click update.


6. Now test it. Go to your site and log in under the account you set as a price level and you should see the prices adjust.

For Free shipping of that product on the general tab of the product editor, there is a check box labeled free shipping ..."check that box"
