Full Version: Setting Up A New Checkout
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > Using MonsterCommerce Software

Okay, most likely this has been discussed in toto, before. I probably am not setting my searches correctly. So .......... that means asking here. happy.gif. We're trying to streamline the checkout. We're sitting at about 35% adandonment at the first screen, then about 25% at address/shipping. We thought we'd try to see if we could do something to the check out procedure and try to capture any!! of those abandonments. Here's the question: Is there a way to preview the checkout before going live? Or do you just have to launch it, and hope you don't loose a sale while you're trying it out?

I really appreciate the answers and help I've been getting on the Forum. Seems a lot of you have gone thru the growing pains we're getting. It's nice to share the pain! happy.gif

The only way to test the checkout is to enable your store front. The reason that this happens, is because when your logged into the admin panel and go to storemode view, this has created one session. Then when you go to checkout mode this is creating a new session and in essence logging you out of the admin panel so you no longer have that bypass to the site like you did. So yes you will need to have the site enabled (live) to test this out.

If there is anything else that we can help you with please let us know.

Thank you,

I think his store is already live, as he gave us statistics about his carts...

but the answer is still the same, there is no way to preview the changes... I suggest trying them late at night, etc. and see how you like them.

The shopping cart won't "loose" any sales while you make changes to your checkout settings... whether to goto 2 step or 4 step or with login, without login, etc. the customer will still be able to checkout while u make the changes...

Now you might "loose" 1 or so sales if you switch methods (more abandoned carts).. but that is all dependant upon which method you goto...

Since you sit at 35% at the first screen, is that your login screen? Try disabling that first.. Doing that won't affect your customers ability to purchase

Hi. Just to clarify, since it seems to be in question; yes, we are live and have been for quite some time. I've only recently been assigned to updating and maintaining the site. Hence all the seemingly "newbie" questions. I appreciate the suggestions. And yet ....... I have one more. Isn't there a new check out with the latest software release? Any using that? Opinions?
