Has anybody else got the E-commerce part of Google Analytics to work? Most of the other metrics are working but not the E-commerce ROI, Conversion Stats, etc. Why are the metrics only half integrated?

Make sure you have the number in the format UA-XXXXXX-X

Did you have a Urchin 6 account before?

Join the crowd. We are now flatlined for two days.

Since we do not have admin access in Google Analytics, we can't do anything about it. I am waiting on MC to find an answer to this.

I'm not certain why this happened. But.... someome definitely dropped the ball on this one. This should NEVER have happened. sick.gif

Anyone else having trouble finding their Google Analytics account number?

I've been all over in GA and can't find it anywhere. We don't use adwords or anything else with google. I'm wondering if there are different types of accounts.

Here's how I got it:
Once in your GA account, click Edit" under the Settings column.
There is a "Check Status" link on this page, click it.
On the resulting page, I found the code for tracking. Note the portion of the code that reads: _uacct = "UA-XXXXXX-X";
The part within quotes is your account number, i.e., the UA-12345-6. That's the number to put into the MC settings.

Hope this helps. GA is working for me.

Patch,

Sorry to here you don't have stats. Surely you are not the only former Urchin 6 customer that monstersmile.gif has. What is everyone else who had Urchin 6 doing now?

They did it because all of the custumers with Google Analytics were not getting eccommerce stats. Supposedly, they didn't do it until they were given some solution from Google to migrate all of the former Urchin 6 stats to the new GA.

I have to tell you we have been waiting 10 months for this. We signed up for monstersmile.gif, one week later decided to buy the Urchin 6, only to be told that they could not sell it to us since Google Analytics was free. Have you signed up for a Google Analytics account?
Ptch3456

Have you signed up for a Google Analytics account?

We already had one.... I don't quite remember how it happened, but we had stats from GA immediately upon them taking over all of the Urchin 6 business. We didn't have to wait to sign up for an account. We had our stats from day one. So, the transition from Urchin 6 to Google wasn't an issue.

MC simply placed that js file in our file manager for Urchin 6, and we've been fine ever since... well, until Wednesday that is. Now we are flatlined.

I am afraid that we are going to end up having a totally new account - rather than the Google account that has all of our other services in it. In that case, I fear we will loose our years worth of stats.

O.K. that's why I can't find my account number. We don't have an "Edit" choice under the Settings column. We had Urchin 6 also and MC switched us over to GA without us doing anything. You'd think they had to use something (i.e. account number) in the js they used to route our stats to the correct GA account. If it worked up until Wednesday you'd think they'd be able to tell us what we could do at this point.

I had no luck with filing a ticket. It just keeps getting closed because the tech doesn't seem to understand the problem.

Ah.... so we aren't alone!

Yes.... they don't seem to have an accurate and collective grasp on the situation do they? This is another time where MC thinks the client is inexperienced and stupid. I do NOT like this new corporate culture we are getting with the NS MC merger.

There is actuallly an account number in the "js file." If you download it and open it in Dreamweaver, you can see it. But... I don't want to contribuite to an already screwed up situation by entering this info into the admin panel, and deleting the .js file.

This is VERY frustrating. I'm glad others are in hog heaven now that they can see all of their stats. But those of us who have had full GA stats for over a year, are now left in the dark.

I'll try it. Do you know the name of the .js file and where I can find it? I'm not seeing it in MC's File Manager. The only two .js files I see on our home page are: Includes/GlobalStore.js and Admin/Includes/adminglobal.js

Edit: O.K. I found it in the _utm.js file. I'll try it and let you know if it works.

Guys, when you are in GA looking at your profile, look in the url on the top and see if you don't see an account number. I notice on mine that my account number displays in the URL. It may be part of it and you need to add the UA- to the front of it, but it should be up there.
prs
Alright, I'm getting stats.

You can find your account number in the __utm.js file in your root directory.

I downloaded the file through file manager then opened it in notepad and did a search for "_uacct=" the number following should be your GA account number. Ours was on the first line. "_uacct=" appears a few times in the .js file so look for it near the top.

Why couldn't anyone figure this out at MC?

P.S. I didn't have to remove the _utm.js file to get GA working again. I just put the account number from the .js file in the new box in the control panel.

macrick-

Thanks. Parts of our account number do appear in the url in a few places in GA but not the full account number. So without knowing our number I'd have had a hard time figuring it out from the url. Also, our GA account doesn't have a place to look at your profile.

Glad to here you got it figured out. Yeah you need the UA-XXXXXX-X format for the stats, and it doesn't show, but by default that last number should be a 1 and all accounts begin with the UA. Good work on figuring it out, shame monstersmile.gif a Network Sollutions Company doesn't care enough to figure it out for us so you guys can have a less stressful weekend. I guess thats what is the advantage of these forums, you can always get some help from someone in this community.

Our isn't working either, I set the new feature for Google Analytics and it hasn't work for 2 days.

Make sure you have the number in the format UA-XXXXXX-X

No we never had an Urchin6 Account. The account number is correct. The site statistics are working, but the E-Commerce reports (ie: Transaction List, Revene and Transactions, etc) are no where near accurate. I noticed that the Custom Payment Manager screen only has the following variables to work with:

Message Variables Key
[ST] - The Order Subtotal on taxable goods before taxes
[TOTAL] - The Order Total to bill
[ORDERNUMBER] - The Current Order Number
[FIRSTNAME] - The customer's First Name
[LASTNAME] - The customer's Last Name
[EMAIL] - The customer's Email Address

Why doens't MC have the Product Number, Price, QTY, etc available on the message screen? The lack of such data really hampers our ability to generate useful metrics.

We are getting that info, make sure you have the full acount number in the admin panel, no old cold (not in your case), and you are giving enough time for GA to catch up. It is possible to get some stats that are only two hours old, but not get eccomerce stats until 10 hours later or the next day.

If you think you got it all right, call tech support and open a ticket.

For all Clients that had Urchin 6:

We have been working with Google to change our old Urchin 6 profile into a full Google Analytics account, this process has taken quite a few months and has just now been completed.

I will be emailing your new GA account number; you can then apply that into the admin panel (Settings >> Site Wide Settings >> System Options)

the format should be: UA-XXXXXX-1

Thanks

We had an Urchin 6 account but it never gave accurate reports. Are you telling me that we can combine the old data from Urchin 5 and 6 into our new GA account?

It's been over 24 hours and the eCommerce stats are not pulling up. I have the following code:

<div onLoad="java script:__utmSetTrans()">
<form style="display: none;" name="utmform">
<textarea id="utmtrans">UTM:T|ORDERNUMBER|affiliation|TOTAL|tax|shipping|city|state|country
UTM:I|ORDERNUMBER|sku/code|productname|category|price|quantity</textarea>
</form>
</div>

Inserted into the Checkout > Custom Payment Manager on the Order Confirmation section of both of our payment options (Credit Card , and Purchase Order).

Anybody have any ideas?

The GA account number is setup correctly because we are getting good metrics.

From what I know you have to delete all of the former code from your site. You ought to call tech support and get help from them.
