Received from a customer today. Maybe our checkout system needs some work?
------------------------------------------

I tried your site again. It is really the WORST mess to try to simply BUY anything on I have ever seen. You seem to be a major ADVERTISING site for GOOGLE and PAY PAL accounts. I STUMBLE over them all the way through. ONE little SLIP, and I have had it!. ALSO you ask for SHIPPING and BILLING separately in the initial stages; ask for the SHIPPING AGAIN later, then ask if it is the same as Billing. (this could have been on th FIRST screen! WHY all these extra slots to fill?

I finally got through to what I thought was the end of an account with YOU, Then a dead end. NO where did it ask for Credit card info, or complete the checkout! I was NOT ABOUT to click on the GOOGLE box, which yoiu keep in the way all the way through.

I gave up. You definitely need help on your web site design.

Woa,

Think what you can do to improve the process. If paypal and google payments are confusing people, can em temporarily if you have another gateway. I hope this is the only customer who gave up on your checkout.

Hey azo313
Sorry to read that stuff...and sorry it happened.
I did not go through your cart, but I've been with monstersmile.gif for quite a long time and have only gotten one complaint about the cart from a shopper griping that the site was slow--she was on a 486DX with 64 megs of ram (not kidding).
I hope this is not trite, but did you do some testing and research before going live? If so, was there any feedback that would lead you to believe that the cart was an issue?
Is the feeback accurate?
It is scary indeed.

Evil no good customers. So rude and half dumb. Those are the people we must design for. You need to make your site idiot proof (a little harsh). They are 80% of any customer base. We wish we had 80% nice and intelligent...but we don't. That would be to easy. Though the slower customers, less patient, and pains in our butts our the customers we learn the most from and are the most important to increasing business success. So any how I looked at your site and may have a few suggestions.

Experiment using the two-step checkout process. We went to that about 7 or 8 months ago and it seems to work better for our customers. Maybe also create different buttons with colors that stand out from the rest of the color on the site. They seem to blend into the menu headers and the like. When your customer clicks to checkout they are directed to the shopping cart first. That may be an extra step your customers don't want to do. They see and can edit the shopping cart throughout the rest of the process. So that page may not be needed. Definitely need to make you money making buttons stand out.

Just a few suggestions to try. Good Luck.

Why don't you try the 2 Step checkout process instead of 4?

Why trying to force the G Check out into your business when MC check out is just a good tool?

I appreciate the advice. I decided to ditch Google checkout and go with a 2-step checkout process.

The only issue with 2-step is that when you select "yes" for billing being the same as shipping, it does not automatically fill in the billing info for you. Also, the fields have asterix next to them so it looks like the customer has to type them in, even though they don't. This can be quite annoying. Any way or plans to fix this?
