Ummm, does anyone see anyhting negative about googles new processing system?

It seems to good to be true. 2% discount Fee with .20 pertransaction . Plus huge discount because of advertising.

"With Google Checkout, there are no additional monthly, setup, or gateway service fees."

"Process credit card payments from Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover."

and as i understand MC is fully intergratted as of now?

so i am really excited about this...... Can someone please tell me what it is that is worng about this so i can stop being excited.

You give Google access to knowledge about what items are actually purchased at your site, in a way that may or may not be connected to keywords used in search or their page rank for your site. The market data value of this could be great for Google. In addition, by creating a tie-in with adwords it may offer inducement for you to spend more there.

I could look for more sinister motives, but it have been a long day.

Clothing,

It is hard to find a drawback with the Google Payments, they have a good program, but here are two of my complaints about Google Checkout.

1. There is not a phone number for support at all. No matter if it is processing, cc info, coding support, you have to email them and wait for a day or two before you can get an answer. Not that you really need to call them often for help, the program is pretty solid, its just when you do need to call them it isn't an option.

2. When a customer chooses to pay or checkout using the Google payment, the customer is taken off of your site to complete the sale. This complicates the purchase a little bit, and gives room for them to cancel out of the sale.

If there is a credit card processor with a better deal than Google, someone post it here, but Googles rates are exceptional.

Best of luck with your new site!

If you use Google to process cards, when your customer hits checkout then it takes them to a secure google page with your logo, they give there credit card info, then go back to your site after they complete the payment process at google.

I believe monstersmile.gif is using the google API system. monstersmile.gif programmed all of the Google Checkout stuff into the cart. In fact monstersmile.gif was a beta tester for this payment process and has been working with Google on this for months.

Googles program is a good one, as I mentioned earlier I can only think of those two drawbacks.
