Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of products that can be placed in the MC database? I think I remember seeing somewhere that it was 10,000 or 15,000 -- but I'm just curious as we are hard at work on our site and we're at appx. 1000 products so far, and I would not be suprised if we hit 10,000 relatively quickly -- but I just thought I'd ask!
Thanks again!

Hi Roger,
The limit for the storefront is 60 thousand products. You can get this info at

Many thanks -- that will be more than enough!
Out of curiosity, are there many storefronts using anywhere near that many products?

Hi Roger,
I can't give you a direct number but I do know of a lot of sites that have more than 10k in products, probably at least 100 or so that I can think of.

Just out of curiosity I was wondering what happens once you reach 60,000 products. I am mainly asking because we just rounded the 30,000 product corner and I have a new distributor that I plan to add probably close to another 20,000 products. Is it a matter of paying extra? Or is it a matter of the software doesn't support it? I just need to know for future planing purposes. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi agkits,
There is nothing on the storefront that will physically limit you from going over the 60k in products. The thing is if you do, your site will run very, very slow. The reason is that our software was not designed to deal with that much data as it is designed for small to medium sized businesses.
Some examples of areas that would run slow are the product editor, search on the site, etc.

Thanks Joe! Is it mainly the software? Or do you think this decrease in speed could be increased on a dedicated server. We are on a semi-dedicated server now and I havent noticed any real decrease in speed in the search or product editor with 30,000. I guess I'll wait to see what happens when I upload the next 20,000

Thanks again Joe

I think that that biggest problem is how the site is layed out. If a Select * was performed on 60000 products, that could take a long time to return the results. If however, the site was layed out in such a way that a large data set wasn't returned, I think that would be a bit more manageable. Sure, if the database of products is large it will take longer to search, but it won't be as bad.

Hi Justyn,
Cannen's response is correct, basically any time you would do a search or some thing that would cause all of the products records to be returned that is what would take a long time and would slow down the site. Being on a dedicated server versus tri dedicated, half dedicated etc, won't help out much on that. It would a little just because you would be the only site using the servers processing power, memory etc, but that is still limited interms of sending all the content over the internet to your browser.
