Full Version: How Do I Delete Abandoned Carts?

Looks like spiders are creating shopping carts every time I add new products. blinking.gif Is there a way to delete these carts that are not created by registered customers? I don't see the option in "View Shopping Carts".

Go to admin panel > settings > side wide settings > system options > half way down is how many days to keep carts. How long you should set it for depends on your type of customer.

I have never heard of a spider creating shopping carts. There are many reasons for abandoned carts.

hope this helps.

Thanks. Before I make this change I want to clarify.

I thought that the number of days to save the cart was how long the customer cart would be saved for them...not how long it would be visible in the ADM "view shopping cart" section. I don't want to affect ALL of my customer carts...I only want to delete the ones that have been abandoned by non-registered users. So if I use the directions provided here and change the saved cart settings to "3 days" for example, wouldn't this allow ALL of my customers carts to be saved for only 3 days?

Is there no way to simply delete those abandoned carts?

As for the spiders, perhaps it's not that, but I never had this issue in a previous store under another host with so many abandoned carts. And the items placed in the arts are not anything like typical orders I have rc'd over the past several years. Just makes me wonder what's going on...

Thanks for the help. smile.gif

What would you reccomend would be a good amount of time for a business ours to hold on to abandoned carts?

Rick ... I would give it 14 days. Your products aren't impulse items. A customer could be waiting for funds or making sure it's just the right item they need. Only problem is if they put it in their cart while it's on sale it stays on sale for the 14 days. But that's ok with me. A sale is a sale is a sale.

Thanks,

I had it set at 10 days for the longest time, then about the 3 months ago, I got the wise notion to set it at 120 after thinking about the sale is a sale is a sale on my own. Lately, it seems that having all of those carts is so inefficient. There really isn't easy way to look at them on a report type basis to try to gather any thing out of them that might be of any use.

As you said earlier, looking at them just drives you crazy.

Again thanks
