Woot! Is right!!
We advertise with Adwords already, so they're going to let us put a bunch through for FREE! This will save us.
Can we integrate it like we did with Paypal Express? This is good, because a few of us are so done with Paypal. Congrats on being one of the very few carts to integrate right from the outset!

To be honest, in my opinion the Google integration is much better than the PayPal integration.
We will be launching a full communication set very soon (next couple of hours) complete with quickguides and the whole nine yards

Ryan & Steph,
I was wondering what benefits the Google Checkout will have for the merchants that do not use Adwords. Some of us still do not have the $ for a good Adwords Campaign.
Please do not get me wrong, I see this as a great feature and congratulate your team for the addition of this feature. I am just wondering how some of the rest of us might best take advantage of this new tool.
Thanks

Hi Javahead,
Yes you will still be able to use your current payment gateway. This is more like an additional checkout option much like paypal's express checkout, but functions much better and is very user friendly.

Hi Doug,
This tool can be useful for non AdWords users as well. In a nutshell, by accepting Google Checkout you will streamline the checkout process for consumers who adopt the Checkout system for their online purchasing. We believe merchants will see a higher conversion rate due to the simple checkout and stored data.
Javahead... you will absolutely be able to use Google Checkout and Authorize (as well as any other payment method) simultaneously. Think of it as another payment option for your customers.

So, we'd have to revamp our shipping policy, rates, and try to guess on different weights just for Google? That would be very, very disappointing, and might change my mind on this.

Depending upon your existing shipping configurations, you may need to make adjustments within your shipping options, policies and rates.
If the Google Checkout increases sales/conversions for your business then it's easier to swallow the adjustments you'd need to make. Otherwise, you could hold off until real-time shipping was available.
We made it very clear to Google how critical real-time shipping is to our merchants. They did everything they could to get it into the first release but were unable to launch with this feature. It will come in the future, however, one way or another.

This is really great feedback coming directly from our merchants. We scanned our systems to provide statistics on real-time use versus custom use to help prioritize the real-time shipping integration and that did help get it to a top priority but not until phase two. On the bright side, at the speed Google is known to develop, phase II should not be far away!

Thanks. Now the real question is how this is going to affect conversion rates. Is offering a second checkout option going to look confusing to customers (at least until Google checkout is established in the minds of consumers like Paypal)? Would it be a turnoff to offer only Google checkout in lieu of normal checkout?

I set this up today but then i realize the shipping integration was unacceptable. Also when it adds the google button to the cart section it looks obnoxious in contrast to the rest of our site design. I can not implement this until those two features are available.

Is the inability to use realtime shipping a problem with MC or is it that Google hasn't enabled this technology yet? Google Checkout is less than worthless to us without realtime shipping. If it is an MC problem is there an ETA on fixinging this? And if it is Google problem have they annouced when it wil be fixed?

Robert,
Yes you do get a $50 Adwords credit when you signup for Google Checkout.
As for real time shipping, I will talk to the Google team about this next week.
For now, one thought would be to set it up with a flat rate and try it. I harp on this all the time in my talks because FLAT RATE SHIPPING CONVERTS even if it cuts your margins a bit. Now might be a good time to try for some merchants who can do this. I understand there are others who just can't and for you guys I promise we will talk with Google and get this done ASAP.

Hello,
We have spoken with Google and the real-time shipping is still one of the top priorities for upcoming releases. I believe that they will have it in place prior to the Holiday rush.
I've stated this in an earlier thread so I apologize for being redundant...we can incorporate real-time shipping into our integration with Google but we did not do so with our initial launch because I wanted to see adoption rate and gauge overall benefit to our clients. If we allocate resources to this feature in the integration, we take resources away from 4.x enhancements. Before I made the decision to go that direction I needed to know (a) when will Google add a real-time shipping on their end and (b) is this the most beneficial feature to the majority of our clients? We should have both answers within the next week.
On a good note, Google was very receptive to smaller buttons and they are working on those as we speak.
robert - if a client doesn't order the amount more than the site settings, it should pop-up the minimum order message upon clicking google checkout. Is this not the case for you?
macrick - Google Analytics is a separate team and we are still working with them to get the kinks out since the Urchin 6 --> GA change. The reason it has taken so long is due to a lack of resources on the GA team but whenever they are able to devote time to this integration, we make progress! Please PM me the specific problems you are still having and I will discuss with contacts there.

I'm really not trying to be rude, but what enhancements? We haven't seen new features or major upgrades in almost a year. The last release was more a "reorganizing" than anything. If a hyped-up, much celebrated feature comes out, wouldn't it be best to let your clients believe that you've given it your all?
I've been disappointed so far. I can't import the orders via Stoneedge, and you blame them, they blame you. Now I don't want to implement this at all, because it's just not professional to put a note somewhere in your shipping policy(we can't change the checkout note) that international customers are subject to higher shipping(how much? which method?)
I appreciate that you wanted to be on the "ground floor", but this isn't ready for deployment.

When we first got a MC store we tried to enable flat rate custom shipping, but when the customers logged in to their account and clicked the track button it wouldn't work. We had to go with Real Time shipping for that to work.
Has that been fixed yet?
If so, we may go back to custom flat rate shipping again.

Hello lowpriceskates,
With the release of 4.2 custom shipping with names like UPS ground, FedEx ground... will now function properly for tracking shipments.
Example:
I create a custom shipping method named FedEx Ground.
I then place an order that uses this custom shipping method with a registered customer account.
I edit the order, add a tracking number, and then go view that order from the my account section on the store front.
The tracking number field sees the text "FedEx" in the custom shipping method name, and knows that the tracking number is for FedEx and will send you to their site for tracking.
There are somethings to note though when setting up the names of your custom shipping method for this to work. The word UPS, USPS, or FedEx must be the first word in the shipping method name. Also the case as I have them spelled above must be used.

Hi Rungreen,
I currently cannot say about stoneEdge because I have personally not used this system before. Currently what I can say though is that if this custom shipping method is used, and then the tracking number is then entered on the admin panel, this will then function properly. If stoneEdge places your tracking number in the admin panel, then this would work. Otherwise you would have to manually enter that into the admin panel for your customers orders.
