I offer a $5 gift certificate when a purchase of $75 or more is made and I was thinking that since it puts it in the cart that it would automatically generate the GC code but it doesn't

Does anyone have any advice on this. It is taking a lot of time to manually order gift certificates and send the code to the consumer.

Hello -

This works exactly the same way in version 4.0. You can add Gift Certificates manually within the admin panel, as opposed to making a new order though. I have logged it as a bug, and we will see if we can get it fixed in 4.0. So when your site gets upgraded, it should work for you. If not, let us know.

Yeah, I tried that in 3.x and it wouldn't work. I was told a while back that it would be fixed in 4.x. However, since you guys are so busy I figured that little yellow sticky note got buried. I planned to mention it again after the migrations. It's nice to be able to provide a GC as the free gift. It ensures the customer will return - if they want to use the gift.
