Full Version: Fixed Shipping Issue.

We originally had the fixed custom shipping set for all items by using the weight fields as the per item shipping cost. However, we now need the weight field for exporting our orders in to UPS Worldship, so we've switched to a "by price" shipping system. And it's working fine... here's my problem...

We will soon have items that need fixed shipping and are ordered on custom html pages, not the usual product pages. (we hardly ever use those) So as far as I know, selecting variants to specify the shipping is not an option. Short of adding the shipping cost in to the items price and putting the [+ $xx.xx s/h] in the product description, is there a way to make this work correctly??? detective.gif

Thanks for your time.

Hello Santino,

Currently you are correct on this issue, you would have to include the shipping cost with the products cost on the admin panel, and then most likely check the item for free shipping or set the weight to 0 so it is not included in shipping calculations. Then on your custom html page, you can display the products price by itself, the shipping cost seperate, and then the buy button that you create using remote scripting will add the product with the prices combined.

For info on remote scripting I would checkout -

i have fixed shipping rates on items I ship via truck. I used this workaroud:

set the item weight to something outrageously high, like 12,000#'s. Then set up custom weights for 12,000#'s to have a shipping charge of $200 for example. When a cart of 12,000 #'s is evaluated for shipping it will look to the custom weights for rates as UPS cannot service this weight. You can also add in a range from 12,001 to 12,020 for example at a rate of $220 in case customer buys additonal items.
