Ok so check this out - https://secure-checkout35.monstercommerce.c...91058/index.asp

I'm building a site for a friend of mine and I can't get the background to work correctly. See the kinda pixelation down each side, thats what I want without the tile like that... although it would be cool to have that 'stick' to the right and left and scale as people open the window. Can you have multiple backgrounds using css, like the center one above, one to stick to the right and one to stick to the left? That would really be a nice effect.

Anyway what I'd like to do I thought was pretty simple, just have this as a normal background. Anybody know how to do that? Currently I have it in my css but that didn't really work out correctly. One it tiles to the right and left, and two when I tried to remove the tile by making it bigger it won't center. You can see what I mean by making the window smaller, the background at one point gets stuck.

The last thing I tried was putting the background in the top and bottom, but couldn't get it to work in the center. You can see the bottom still has it on right now, kinda funny cause when you make the window smaller it pushes the whole thing over.

Anybody have an idea?

oh that push over is on macs and I think on ie 6? I know 7 (the beta one) doesn't do it

Ok so I'm going to reply to my own thread cause I found something but it's a little over my knowledge of how css works

Check this out, it's on multiple backgrounds in css3

Does anybody know how to use this?

Hi BCB,

Currently I would not recommend using CSS3 as this standard still is not fully finalized and most web browsers can't fully render it, but when I look at your site now it looks pretty good and the css that you are using for your body tag looks correct to me. As another way to do this though what you are doing now is the best thing that I can recommend.

If you are looking for a tool to generate some css classes for you to give you the look you need try this program:

This free tool works great and will generate styles for you based off of options you choose from dropdown menus and text fields.

Ok so forget all that getting the background to do anything fancy. You guys see what happens when you make the window smaller, the background and the center don't move the same. Anyway to fix this? Maybe another method to how I put the background in? originally I had the background as part of the top and bottom (small parts of it in a table cell), is it possible to put it in the middle also, I tried but couldn't find anything, thats how I ended up using the style sheet.
