Full Version: Mac Ie Problem
MonsterSmallBusiness Forums > MonsterCommerce > How do I?

I always test my site in as many browsers on as many platforms as possible. The monstersmile.gif sites have always worked well enough on the Mac, however all of a sudden the products are not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer on the Mac. Safari is still working fine. Was there a recent upgrade to the software that could have caused this new bug? I haven't checked in here for a while, any ideas? This kind of thing sucks because it takes away from the time I need to be working on getting business, but some people do use Internet Explorer on a Mac, so this is a real problem. Hopefully someone can help us monstersmile.gif people with this...

FYI: What I found the problem on was Internet Explorer 5.2 running on Mac OS 10.3.4

By the way, this is a problem for all monstersmile.gif users, it is a conflict with the monstersmile.gif software and IE. It is not because of the way my particular site is designed.

Hi Danwood-

We are currently aware of an issue with the Mac IE browser and our software. Please feel free to open up a ticket with tech support to confirm this is what you are seeing.

Thanks

Brian

Okay, I will. Any idea on how long the issues have been going on? I imagine you don't have an estimated time on the fix...

Hi Danwood-

Unfortunately, an estimate is not available. One thing to consider is that Internet Explorer for MAC is currently so outdated that even Microsoft no longer supports it. Anyone using this browser really should consider using a more current option, I'm sure as time goes on users will naturally find the browser more and more unusable from Internet browsing in general.

Thanks

Yeah, I know that it's not the most popular or current browser, but it's still good to have an internet business website that's "idiot proof." Thanks for the response though...

Dan,

I.E. for Mac is dead. If you want to check out your site for mac users, use Firefox for Mac.

If you have Google Analytics look at your stats and see how many people use IE for mac to browse your site. .49% of our visitors use IE for mac. Allthough our site is a mac site, yours will be different. Safari is by far the most current browser used on our site for mac users, followed by Firefox.

By the way, Internet Explorer for Mac doesn't work worth a flip on 75% of all websites now a days.

I disagree with the theory that 'people will just have to update their browsers to shop at my site'! It's bad form worry.gif

I hope this buy gets fixed soon too.

How would you feel if you had an old browser which didn't provide 100% security when placing transactions online? Would you continue to use it?

Should MC spend time with programming for Browsers that are 5 years old? or should they spend time on adding features that so many of the merchants seem to offer suggestions for that MC just does not appear to have the time to implement?

I like to use Mac IE for somethings, but I use Safari otherwise.

Most sites don't work for Mac IE. I doubt that there is one mac internet user who uses IE and doesn't use a different browser also.

Don't wast your time fixing this crap. It is hard and time consuming to hash out the idiosyncrasies between modern and obscure, old, unsupported browsers.
