Full Version: Real-time Shipping Issues - Please Help!

Hello everyone,

I am having some serious issues with real-time shipping rates. I was told by monstersmile.gif that I could not get rates on anything over 150lbs. We ship over 150lbs all the time, being a business-to-business merchant. The custom shipping option which was recommended by monstersmile.gif is ridiculous in that it doesn't allow rates to be charged by zip code or state - it just will not work for us.

So monstersmile.gif told me over the phone today that under the FedEx carrier, I will find a few freight options that will return rates for items over 150lbs. I tested this and found that NO rates were returned on any of the options I tried!?!?!?!?!?!?

Is anyone else using real-time FedEx freight? May I ask what you used in the “Low/High Weight” fields? I’m completely confused here…

I am currently setting up and testing a monstersmile.gif Commerce site. I ran into the same problem. We also ship items over 150lbs all the time. I have not found a solution for it yet. I haven't contacted tech support yet but your post doesn't sound promising. I will probably have to set up a custom shipping method.

I cannot believe that MonsterCommerce cannot offer shipping rates for items over $150lbs, even with FedEx freight. I will be investigating further in the next couple of weeks and will post back with any updates that I find.

This has been an issue for AGES. Not for me personally, but for many other merchants. Hopefully one will chime in here with what they did/are doing.

I did a search of the forums for the terms: 150 lbs

And a bunch of threads came up including:

May I recommend that you each submit tickets (if you haven't already) so that M0nster can compile a list of how many people need this feature addressed?

I, too, would like to be able to use real-time shipping rates for my wholesale orders (over 150 lbs) once I get that site up...I will also submit a ticket with this request.

I will submit a ticket today.

Another e-commerce software that I am using allows me to put a Shipping Surcharge on each product. This allows me to put the wgt at 0 and then charge a set amount of shipping. What I like about that is if someone orders some small items they still get charged the UPS rate and also get charged the shipping surcharge on the items that have the surcharge.

Hello,

I will forward this post to one of our experts in shipping to see if he can help in any way.

I know this thread is a month old, but has anyone found a reasonable solution. Right now, we show "Call for Shipping" when an order is over 150 lbs. The problem being is that alot of people don't bother and we lose that sale.

I was wondering... is the "whole shipment" that can be ordered up to 150Lbs? Or is it each item? I had a guy that wanted to buy a bunch of stuff and he kept telling me that it would not let him go through with the order. I told him that I honestly did not know. Then he said if he split the order it let him go through with it. Now that I think about it, some of the items in that shipment were 70Lbs a piece... Could someone please explain? It should just be a maximum shipping weight per package, not per order! My old cart let you set a maximum shipping weight per package and then it added another package and so on...
