Hi,

I'm looking at StoneEdge OM, and was wondering if anyone who uses it would trade emails/PMS with me on it. Have to convince the brass that we really, really need it!!

Help is greatly appreciated!!
prs
You can PM me. We've been using it for 6 months and really like it.

There is a learning curve because there is really no "How to" documentation on processing your orders. But once you figure out a system that works for your business it runs really smoothly.

The only problem is we get done so early we feel like our business has slowed down. We have someone leaving for a pregnancy so we are planning not to replace her to keep everyone else busy.

You can email or PM me too... we've been using it for over a year now and love it.

Hi All,

I was just wondering if any of you Stone Edge users can tell me if SE can handle raw materials in inventory? This would be most commonly used by restaurants or bakeries, where you purchase raw materials such as sacks of flour and sugar or cases of eggs and lettuce, all of which would need to be tracked and inventoried. This is a huge weakness in QB, and I am ready to look for a new solution. If anyone out there can offer some experience I would very greatly appreciate it! happy.gif

No, the Order Manager is not really set up for that. We were just discussing something similar at our annual User Conference today here in Philadelphia. We called it "assemblies", and it would let you define all of the components of an assembly, then automatically pull the inventory to create x assemblies. That would come close, but we also do not support fractional quantities, which could be a problem for you. The other possibility would be to handle it in custom code for you. We have done that for several merchants, such as one who roasts coffee, and needed to track quantities of different beans, weight loss in roasting, etc. If you give me a call, I can discuss the possibilities with you. 215-641-1837 ext. 111

Steve
Yes, Version 4.4 was released a couple of weeks ago, but the official announcement won't go out until tomorrow or the next day. We wanted to get a few copies out ahead of the rush so we could make any last-minute tweaks that were necessary. So we are already on 4.401. If you have your user info, you can go ahead and download it any time.
residualboulders
maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but i'm curious about what stoneedge costs the average small business.
Monster Tech Lead
Hi residualboulders,

Currently I can't say how much this would cost but if you call the following number for StoneEdge they should be able to tell you how much it costs - 877-786-6393

The Stone Edge Order Manager sells for $1,250. That includes the program, a license to use it on up to 5 workstations (computers) at one location, and a year of support and updates. The support is good for up to 3 hours of telephone support time, which is enough for most users. After the first year, optional support contracts are $350 per year for support and updates. There are no per-store, per-transaction or per-order charges.

We also offer an Express Setup Service for $250. That is a 3 hour services that includes help with installation and configuration of the Order Manager and a training session to help get you started.

We have other offerings, including our Order Status System and the Enterprise Version of the Order Manager. Full pricing details can be found at: http://www.stoneedge.com/ompricing.htm

Don't let the price fool you. The Order Manager competes with products that sell for 10 times as much or more. We keep our prices low so we can continue to support the small business market that we have been servicing for over 6 years now. You will find that dealing with Stone Edge is different from dealing with most software companies. The fact that we post our pricing information right on our Website is just one example of that.

Barney:

Finally, and out of absolute necessity, we will be among your newest MC clients - hopefully in the next week or so. I look forward to your product making our lives A LOT easier! The ShipRush and Authorize.net plug-ins will make our day go by much quicker. I also look forward to increased sales by getting rid of the log-in page. Rather, we will be using your Order Status system instead.

Sorry, but there is no Mac version of the Stone Edge Order Manager. The Order Manager is a huge Microsoft Access and VBA (Visual Basic for Appliations) program, and Microsoft has never released a version of Access for the Mac. We do have some merchants who run the Order Manager on a Mac using one of the programs that lets you run Windows on a Mac, but frankly, since you can buy a decent Windows computer for under $500 these days, I'm not sure it's worth it. As an old Apple ][ developer (anybody remember the Apple ][ anymore?) I am a long-term Apple supporter. Even knew Woz back in the old days and went to one of his weddings. Unfortunately, there's just no practical way for us to support the Mac with our software.

Does Apple have a WINE-equivalent that let's you run PC software in emulation mode? Virtual environments are also available for the Mac (VMWare), so you could install XP on a virtual computer on your Mac and run it that way.

I bought Stoneedge a couple months ago. It's version 4.2. It's to complicated for me, easy for others I suppose. Does anyone want to buy it off me for $700? I paid $1250.00. It includes a 5 client license.

Kevin -

Did you have an Express Setup Service? If not, that's a great way to get up and running with the Order Manager with a live training session. You also probably have support time you haven't used. I know getting started with the Order Manager can be intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, it should be a great time saver for you. Feel free to give me a call if you want to get some help from us and give it another try.

Sorry, guys, but the license that Kevin agreed to when he installed the Order Manager is not transferable. We have a 30-day return policy, but after that we do not accept returns and we do not allow transfers to other companies. We will be glad to help Kevin get it working for him, but I'm afraid that is his only option.

We have been using SEOM for a little of a year and we love it. We have mutiple monstersmile.gif stores and eBay all interfacing into the order manager. We also have found that you can have custom programming done to add features that are specific for your business. We did this for scanning in receivers and tracking IDs specific to customers and suppliers. Recently we wrote code to interface SEOM with Salesforce.com for CRM management. This allows us to manage our entire customer database from one place without having to re enter any customer information.

Highly recommend the SQL version. Barney and the guys have designed a winner.

Can someone tell me if it prints product labels? I am looking at possibly something like this. You receipt a product and it gives you the option to print ID labels?
Anyone?
Thanks
Steve

My warehouse manager uses it to printe labels. I believe they can be different sizes. They are plain with bar code, price, and product name. Not sure how advanced you would want the labels.

Hope this helps.

Yes, the Order Manager can print product labels as you receive new inventory, or later on as needed. Like all of the Order Manager's reports, product labels are based on a Microsoft Access report format, which can be modified either by you or by Stone Edge for a small fee. There are also some 3rd party consultants who offer those services. The standard product labels include barcodes so scanners can be used to confirm items as they are packed and with our Point of Sale system.

Thanks Barney, I am sure that after the Christmas season dust settles you will have a new customer. We are going to be desperate for streamlining by then.

Why wait? Now is the time to start streamlining your operations, so you don't get into a mess with Holiday orders. Even if you just implement a few of the Order Manager's features now, and leave the rest for next year, it could make the next couple of months a lot easier for you.
